  • PostgreSQL is an object-relational database management system (ORDBMS. It is an open source database, with the most notable feature being its extensibility through custom data types, functions, operators, indexes, rules, etc. PostgreSQL is written in C and C++. The client libraries are written in C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Tcl, Ruby and other languages.

    PostgreSQL provides features such as ACID transactions, foreign keys, views, sequences, subqueries, triggers, user-defined types and functions, multiversion concurrency contrp (MVCC), online backup and point-in-time recovery. The PostgreSQL project includes the fplowing concepts:

    Object-relational database management system (ORDBMS)

  • Integration of PostgreSQL and SMS By Connect
  • Once the application is installed on your windows machine (the windows software can be downloaded from http://www.smsbyconnect.com), you must create a new table in the system. This table stores all the information about a particular patient, including their name, age, weight, height and so on. Once the table is created you will have to create a new entry for storing each patient’s measurement record. This way you will have a new entry once a patient comes to the clinic for his or her regular checkup. In this entry you will have to add their measurement values with the corresponding dates. In this case we will use the date field which will be used as a unique identifier for each patient’s measurement record. This way we will have a new entry for each patient when they come for a checkup. This is how we will make a connection between SMS By Connect and PostgreSQL. Figure 1 shows a screenshot of a single patient’s record in the PostgreSQL table which represents one measurement record in the SMS By Connect application.
