Cloud storage services like Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive are all very well for storing important files. But sometimes you need to share those files with others or even thousands of other people. Using Amazon S3 the right way will enable you to do just that. Amazon S3 is a web service designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. It gives any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, secure, low-latency infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of websites. Amazon S3 integrations from Appy Pie Automate allow a developer to store objects in Amazon S3 and serve them directly from S3. With Amazon S3 integrations, you can offload the business logic required to handle the location and storage of your important data.
Appy Pie Automate brings together Triggers (like "New File") and Actions (like "Send Message") to complete an action in one app whenever a trigger occurs in another. This phenomenon is called “Connect” and these Connects help you automate repetitive tasks saving you the trouble of doing them manually.
To integrate Amazon S3 at Appy Pie Automate, search and select the app from the app directory available at Connect. Now, select the service required and press the Continue button to move ahead with the integration.
Note: Amazon S3 can only be used as an Action event app right now at Connect.
Click Connect an Account button and a pop-up form will ask for Amazon S3 access. You need to enter the AWS Access Key ID, AWS Access Secret Key and select the Region from the drop-down menu in the pop-up form at Connect. Press Yes, Continue button to move ahead with the integration after filling the details correctly.
Note: Region is optional for the user, you can leave it with the default value as well.
Connect will ask to reconfirm the Amazon S3 account connected. Click the Continue button to confirm the account
Select the service details Amazon S3 from the dropdown menu available, such as Bucket Name, Key and Content. Now, click the Continue button to complete the integration of Amazon S3 at Appy Pie Automate.
How to add files to a folder?
Adding files to the folder in Amazon S3 can be done using Key name. Amazon S3 uses a Key name to signify folders. Example: if you upload the file with key docs/important.txt then the result in Amazon S3 will be a file named as important.txt has been added to the docs folder.
I am unable to see some of my Buckets in Action Event
The buckets with capital letters or uppercase letters are not retrievable via S3 API thus they are not fetched in the Connect. To use these buckets you can rename them in Amazon S3 in all lowercase letters and the buckets will become available.
400 Error - Unable to Add in a particular Bucket
This might occur if the Bucket is in a different region then one selected at the time of Connect integration. You will be required to reintegrate using the same region in order to add in the specific bucket. Sometimes Amazon S3 allows users to see the bucket from a different region but doesn’t give permission to add or update information in it (due to Amazon S3 security protocols of the integrated account). Check out the list of all the account regions with name and code provided by AWS:https://docs.aws.amazon.com/general/latest/gr/rande.html#s3_region
