7 Effective Ways to Improve your Snapchat Score
Snapchat is one of the most popular messaging apps that allows you to send text messages, images, and videos. The app has various effective features including filters, stickers, memories, and stories. It allows you to save images and videos for replaying and future sharing.
Coming to the app interface, it’s unlike other social media apps. It has no real navigation – swiping left or right gets you to switch the sections within the app. The actions and buttons in the app are controlled by icons without labels. Things with this app are not that intuitive as they are with Facebook, Instagram, and other social media apps.
Your Snapchat profile has a number logged by your username that reflects your in-app activity – Snapchat Score. You can find the snap score next to the username in your profile. With no practical use, the score just adds gamification to the app. It motivates users to keep communicating via Snapchat. Snapchat score includes two numbers, the first is for the number of snaps you have sent and the second is for the ones you have received.
Now that you have already got an answer to – what is a snap score, let us go ahead and find out how it works and how you can increase it.
How does Snap Score Work?
Snapchat Score rises depending upon a few things –
- Stories you post
- Number of snaps you receive
- Number of snaps you send
You get a point for sending and receiving a snap, but no points for just sending a message. You also get a point if you post a snap to your story, but there are no points for watching someone else’s story.

The benefits of the high score are not clear but you do unlock trophies in the app depending on what your score is. With these trophies, users earn special achievements on the app and get them in the form of emojis.
How to Increase Your Snap Score?
We are here to teach you how to quickly increase your Snapchat score. You can send and open images and video snaps, as well as post stories to increase your snap score. Here are a few other things that you can do to improve your Snapchat score.
- Find your current Snapchat score
- Open your Snapchat profile
- Click on the profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen
- You will find the score below your name
- Send multiple snaps at once
- Send snaps more often
- Do not send direct messages
- Open unread snaps
- Add snaps to your story
- Add more friends on Snapchat
You can find your Snapchat score in a few simple steps.
You can click on the score to view a split of how many points have you got for sending and receiving the snaps.
You send one snap to one friend and you get 1 point. That is how it works. So, if you will start sending snaps to multiple friends at once, it may get you an additional point. For example, you send a snap to 10 people, it may result in 10-11 points.
Snapchat also offers this feature of selecting multiple friends to send one snap. Just tap the white ‘Send’ arrow and select the names from the list. Each friend you select will get this snap when you will click on the ‘Send’ arrow again.
You can one point for sending out one snap. So, try to send more and more snaps to your friends and family and make this activity a regular part of the day.
If you are not sending snaps that often, you can shut down the application for a few days. By doing this, you will get 6 gap reward points when you are back. Also, Snapchat boosts your rating when you open Snapchat after taking a break.
Sending or receiving direct messages doesn’t help you bag points. So, try to avoid sending or opening the received chat messages.
You get one point for opening one snap. To open an unread snap, tap the purple button for videos or red button for images next to the sender’s name. Replaying any of these doesn’t get you any extra points.
Try to add more snaps to your story. For every snap you add, you will get a point. Tap the ‘Send’ arrow button and then ‘My Story’ circle in the upper-left corner of the recipient’s screen to add a snap to your story.

Each friend request, whether you have sent or excepted it, you will gain a point. Of course, this strategy doesn’t work in the long run, but it is beneficial when you are new to Snapchat and are starting to collect points. However, you may not get point for every person you add, for example, you don’t get points when you add celebrities.
Use Snapchat more and increase your score with the old-fashioned ways. Doing this makes you more active and helps you grow your following on Snapchat. With the increasing number of followers, you can also potentially reach influencer-status and start earning money by advertising to your followers on your Snapchat.
