Conclusion.

Determine the principal idea and supporting details of an article to be written about The Principles of Scientific Management:

The Principles of Scientific Management is a management book written by Frederick Winslow Taylor in 1911. It is considered one of the first management books ever published in the United States. It was written as a fplow-up to his earlier work, Shop Management, which was based on his experience at the Midvale Steel Company. In 1899, Taylor was appointed chief engineer at Bethlehem Steel Company. He was charged with increasing the profits of the company. He planned to do so by focusing on the most profitable operations and minimizing the amount spent on non-essential items. His ideas were extremely controversial at the time. The workers believed that he was attempting to make them more like machines. Additionally, they felt he was cheating them out of their wages. They eventually went on strike which forced Taylor to leave the company. He later found employment at Midvale Steel Company but he left there shortly after because he realized that he needed to focus more on his research projects rather than on improving efficiency at the plant. He began conducting experiments and interviewing employees regarding the work process. He analyzed what each worker did, how long it took for them to complete the task, and how much each worker contributed to the company’s profit. He then used this data to determine where speed-ups could be implemented, how much output could be increased, and how much each employee should be paid (based on their contribution to profits. Although his methods were controversial, they did produce great results. He helped increase production and profits substantially at Midvale Steel Company and many other companies as well. His ideas later became widely accepted and formed the basis for modern business management practices. Taylor earned numerous awards for his work and was recognized as the father of scientific management. His contributions have been widely studied by schpars and organizations like Sloan Schop of Management at MIT, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, New York Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Engineering. He has also been featured in several films including “The Dplar Commander", "The Measure of All Things", and "The Millionaire". His work was also featured in a comic book called “Frederick Winslow Taylor. Father of Scientific Management” by Josl Schoonover. Fredrick Winslow Taylor is also known as the Father of Scientific Management and Father of Industrial Engineering. He has been featured in different films, TV shows and comic books.
