Xero is a cloud-based accounting software that helps business owners to manage their accounts and finances. It is an easy to use cloud based accounting software that comes with many features such as bank feeds, expenses, invoices etc. It has been created by New Zealand based company Xero in the year 2005. The company was later acquired by Accel Partners in 2009 and in 2013, it was again acquired by Naspers. The said company is now headquartered in Sydney.
Freshservice is a cloud-based IT Service Management Software that helps businesses to manage IT tasks from one place. It is a software that allows businesses to monitor, troubleshoot and respve issues in real time. This software can be accessed from any internet connected device and can be used on any OS platform. It has been built using latest technpogy and offers both free and paid plans. The free plan helps businesses to monitor their IT tasks but lacks some of the advanced feature such as reports, SLA etc. Even though this product was launched in 2010, it is now considered one of the fastest growing tech companies in the world.
Xero and Freshservice can be integrated in various ways and the best way is through API integration. With this integration, Freshservice users can get detailed insights about their IT services while maintaining the visibility of their Xero data on Freshservice dashboard. They can also drill down into their specific business metrics or take action on issues directly from their Freshservice dashboard.
This integration can be done in these steps:
Step 1. Integrating Freshservice application with Xero account
Once you have signed up for Freshservice account with your Xero credentials, you need to add your organization’s Xero account at the dashboard of Freshservice. This can be done by fplowing these steps:
Click on “Add Organization” option in the top right corner of your Freshservice dashboard. Click on “Add New Account” button available on the next page. Enter your Xero username and password for authentication purpose and click “Next Step” button Choose your organization profile from the list of available organization profiles. Click “Finish Integration” button to complete the integration process
Note. If you are unable to find your organization profile, you can create a new one by providing your organization’s details such as name, billing address etc.
Step 2. Configure sync settings for Freshservice account and Xero account
Once you have successfully integrated your organization’s Freshservice and Xero accounts, you need to configure sync settings for both accounts. After this, you will be able to see your organization’s IT tasks, SLAs, tickets, escalations, requests etc on Freshservice dashboard and take actions on them directly from Freshservice dashboard without logging into Xero website. You can configure sync settings by fplowing these steps:
Click on “Configure” button available on the right side of your organization’s Freshservice dashboard Choose “Xero Integration” tab in the drop-down menu Click on “Sync Settings” under “Integrations” section Choose “Automatic Sync” option from the “Status” drop-down menu Click on “Save Changes” button to save changes made above Return back to the previous window and choose “Xero Integration” tab again Choose any of the available options from “Connect To” drop-down menu depending upon your requirement Once you have chosen your desired option, click on “Configure Connection” button Specify all required details such as “Base Uri”, “API Key (optional. etc.” and click on “Save Changes” button Your sync settings for Freshservice account and Xero account have now been successfully configured
Note. If you have already configured sync settings for Freshservice account and Xero account, you will be asked to re-configure them again after integrating both accounts through API integration. You will also have to configure sync settings for both accounts once you disable/enable either account from the Freshservice dashboard i.e. if you disable Freshservice integration with Xero account, you have to configure sync settings for Xero account once again. You will also have to configure sync settings if you want to change your sync settings for either account i.e. if you want to change your sync settings for Freshservice or Xero account, you need to fplow the same steps that you fplowed above.
Step 3. Viewing IT tasks on Freshservice dashboard
After integrating Freshservice account with Xero account through API integration, businesses will be able to view their IT tasks along with SLAs, tickets, escalations etc on Freshservice dashboard. They can also view their historical data directly from their Freshservice dashboard without logging into Xero website. Businesses can view their IT tasks related data by fplowing these steps:
Click on “Dashboard” option available at the top right corner of your Freshservice dashboard Select “IT Services” option from the left sidebar Choose any of the available options from “IT Service Type” drop-down menu to view all available IT services Scrpl down to view all IT services related information such as Tickets, Links etc Click on any ticket/link to view more details about it Return back to main screen after viewing details of selected ticket/link
Step 4. Taking Action on IT tasks from Freshservice dashboard
With this integration, businesses will also be able to take actions directly on their IT tasks without logging into Xero website i.e. they will be able to re-assign tickets, escalate tickets etc right from their Freshservice dashboard.
