Tookan is a delivery management software that assists companies in streamlining dispatch processes and improving communication between managers and delivery drivers.
Formatter by Connect is our own formatting tool that is designed to format data in a way that ‘s easy to understand for procedding your “connects”.

When you need to develop an application for business, it seems like a very easy task. However, one of the most important parts in development is how to manage data flow. Different data structures can be used to store different kind of information like numbers, dates, telephone number, etc. For example, telephone number is stored with different format depending on the country. Numbers are stored differently in Japan and Korea with base 2 system (binary.
I think that data structures are one of the most important parts of software development. Data structures are also highly dependent on the language used. This is because each language has its own structure to represent data. For example, Java uses Object Oriented Programming (OOP. while C uses procedural programming. While some people may argue about which one is more effective, they are both good in their own way. It is also true that OOP has some limitations when it comes to performance. However, what I am trying to say here is that OOP is not the only way to spve problems. Unfortunately, some programmers are so obsessed with OOP that they can’t see other approaches.
For example, in C, there are also many ways to handle data structures. While C++ supports OOP using multiple inheritance, C doesn’t support it at all. Instead, C uses struct or union to handle complex data structures. The most important point here is that you should know what approach works best for your problem.
So, where does this topic fit into this article? Well, Tookan is one of the frameworks that allows us to use different data structures in JavaScript code. JavaScript is designed for dynamic data structures. However, if you want to use integers or strings in your program, you have to convert them into real objects in order to use them. However, using Tookan we don’t have to do that anymore. We can directly use integers and strings in our code without converting them into objects.
Tookan is a framework that helps developers integrate different data structures inside JavaScript code. It has many advantages such as flexibility but also has its limitations such as lack of documentation and unavailability of examples in official website. For example, when I was trying to learn about Tookan, I found only one example provided by the author of Tookan himself in his blog. http://www.w3cplus.com/tookan-example/. However, I found this example quite hard to understand and modify it for my own needs. Therefore, I decided to provide another example based on the same topic and tried to explain it in a simple and understandable way.
The main idea behind integration of Tookan and Formatter By Connect is to let users select their preferred decimal separator from drop-down list instead of using ‘.' (dot. The user would enter numbers like 1.234 and decimal separator would be automatically added before and after numbers like 1.234 (1 234. according to the selected decimal separator from drop-down list. Once the user selects the right decimal separator from drop-down list, just click “Save” button and then all numbers entered by user would be saved automatically with the same decimal separator selected from drop-down list. The whpe program looks like this:

In this article, I tried to explain the basic concept of Tookan and how it works with help of Formatter By Connect framework without going too deep into details. If you want to know more about Tookan framework, I recommend you to read the official documentation at http://www.tookan-project.org/.
