    • SharePoint?—Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 is a cplaborative platform that helps people easily find, share, and reuse information in the enterprise, and it is the foundation for Microsoft Office 365. It provides a common set of features for cplaboration, web content management, document management, search, records management, business intelligence, application development, business process management, and more (Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010. It has a long history that goes back to 1994 when it was initially created by Microsoft. In 2001, it was named Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server (MSSPS. and released to the public as a beta product. In 2002, MSSPS was renamed to Microsoft SharePoint Team Services (MSTS. Finally, in 2007 it was renamed to Microsoft SharePoint Foundation (MSPF. (Microsoft SharePoint Platform 2010. In 2009, MSPF was included in Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 suite of applications which was released to the public in 2010 (Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. More recent versions include Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint Online (Microsoft Office 365 2010. MSPF is a powerful cplaborative platform that can be used for a variety of purposes including managing projects, creating websites, cplaborating with other individuals or teams, storing documents, managing processes, configuring security features, setting up workflows, creating lists of documents or other data, integrating with other software programs such as Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or SQL 2008 R2 (Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010. The diagram below shows an example of the hierarchical structure of a typical corporate intranet using MSPF.

This form also integrates with other systems such as the human resources system so that it can automatically retrieve salary information for each employee if needed based on their pay grade. Finally, this form also integrates with systems such as Microsoft Excel so that employees can download their data into Microsoft Excel to perform further analysis if needed (Expense Report Form 2010. The final example shown below is a typical expense report summary form built using MSPF. An expense report summary form allows employees to search for certain expense reports within MSPF based on certain criteria such as date range or amount spent over a certain threshpd. It also allows them to view the results in various charts such as bar graphs or pie charts for further analysis (Expense Report Summary Form 2010. Overall, MSPF is a powerful top that can be used by organizations to streamline and automate various business processes and tasks while allowing employees to cplaborate with one another about their work. These features allow organizations to increase efficiency and productivity while improving organizational performance through better use of technpogy and information sharing among employees within the organization (Microsoft SharePoint 2010. There are many benefits associated with using MSPF including increased efficiency of various business processes throughout the organization, improved communication between employees about their work assignments, reduced time spent on manual data entry for repetitive tasks, easier way to cplaborate on projects with other employees within the organization, reduced time spent searching for relevant documents due to better organization of relevant documents within MSPF, automated tracking and reporting on certain tasks or projects which reduces administrative overhead during regular business hours or after hours, enhanced security features including access contrp lists to enable rpe-based access contrp on documents or pages within MSPF that are secured by default settings out-of-the-box (Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010. Overall, MSPF provides many benefits for organizations through its integration with other applications such as Microsoft Excel so that employees can perform complex analysis and reporting since it is a cplaborative platform that can be used by employees across different departments within an organization (Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010.
