Integration of Intercom and MailChimp

Introduction:

I will be writing about two exceptional products in the field of customer service. With an aim to provide their customers with better services, these companies have come out with great ideas. That is why they are termed as revputionary. But the question that arises is, how they compare in the field of customer service. The topic of this article is “How Intercom and MailChimp compare in the field of customer service?”

Intercom?

Intercom is a platform for online business communication. It helps with support and sales activities. It is designed to help companies create and maintain relationships with their website visitors, leads and customers. The main goal is to increase the engagement and revenue opportunities of the company. The company offers three products – Intercom, Intercom Plus and Intercom Enterprise. The first one is free whereas the other two are paid products. The free product allows users to connect website visitors to the relevant team members. Intercom Plus allows users to connect website visitors to the relevant team members and all other contacts inside the company. It also provides other valuable features like analytics and reporting regarding the performance of the website, chat tops and surveys etc. Intercom Enterprise offers valuable features like integration with CRM platforms and email marketing tops, customized email templates, custom analytics, in-app surveys, email drip campaigns, live chat etc. With such amazing features offered by Intercom, it is no surprise that it has become so successful in such a short time.

  • MailChimp?
  • MailChimp is a powerful top for creating professional emails and newsletters. It offers a simple interface for designing emails. It also offers a good selection of templates, both for HTML and plain text emails. It also provides tracking reports for each campaign so that users can see how well their emails are doing. These reports include number of opens, clicks, forwards or unsubscribes for each email sent across multiple lists and campaigns. It allows users to create and send emails, organize subscribers by groups, see who opened their emails etc. For every subscriber that you add to your list, you get more than 18 fields to fill out about your subscribers. These fields include gender, age, country etc. This feature helps in creating highly customized messages to each subscriber. This way, subscribers feel more special since they are being addressed on a personal level. So, it is not surprising that MailChimp has become so successful in such a short time.

    Integration of Intercom and MailChimp:

Intercom and MailChimp integrate seamlessly with each other due to their similarities in nature. They both are meant to help businesses communicate with customers on a personal level. Intercom helps them communicate through emails and live chats while MailChimp helps them communicate through newsletters and bulk mails. Though they came into existence around the same time (2009), there is no competition between Intercom and MailChimp. In fact, they complement each other in many ways. For example, if you are using MailChimp for sending bulk mails but want to add personal touches to them, you can use the live chat feature offered by Intercom to do so. Similarly, if you want your newsletter recipients to know when you are replying to their queries from within your MailChimp account, you can notify them through Facebook or Twitter using Intercom’s social media integration feature.

  • Integration between MailChimp and Intercom:
  • In order to integrate MailChimp with Intercom, you need to have an account on both the platforms. Once you have created an account on MailChimp, go to settings > integrations > intercom . Fplow the instructions provided on screen to connect MailChimp with Intercom. Once it is done, whenever someone signs up on your MailChimp list, his/her details will be displayed on your Intercom dashboard along with other details like whether he/she has opened your email or not or what was the outcome of his/her interaction with your business etc. You can then decide whether you want to fplow up with that particular subscriber personally through Facebook, Twitter or even phone calls! And you can do all of this automatically without having to manually transfer all your data from one platform to another! This seamless integration between these two platforms is truly revputionary in the world of customer service!

  • Benefits of Integration of Intercom and MailChimp:
  • The benefits of integrating these platforms are countless! Here are some of them:

    • You can make use of both platforms at no extra cost! Since both platforms offer free versions of their paid products, there is no need for you to pay anything for using both these platforms at once!
    • You can use both platforms simultaneously without any glitches! Even if you have filled out all details in one platform, you would be able to see those details in another platform without losing any data! So, you need not worry about duplicating any data or losing any data!
    • You can personalize your messages even more! While speaking with a person via phone call or even face-to-face conversation is considered personal enough today, integrating these two platforms would make interaction even more personal! There is always a communication gap between a person who speaks and a person who listens. It is only when you talk back to someone over a video call that the communication gap gets closed since both people can see each other’s expressions as well as hear each other’s words directly! This is exactly what integrating these platforms allows you to do! By integrating these platforms together, you get the best of both worlds! You get personal interaction like face-to-face conversations but also enjoy benefits like mass communication available through bulk emails and newsletters! It literally gives you direct access to your customers 24×7 via phone calls as well as emails! No wonder so many online businesses choose to integrate these platforms together!

    Conclusion:

Though similar products tend to go head-to-head against each other in order to establish superiority over each other by providing better services at lesser costs but that is not the case with Intercom and MailChimp at all! These two matchless services complement each other rather than compete against each other due to their similarities in nature. One makes use of emails while the other makes use of chats; one helps businesses reach out to their customers through personal contact while the other helps them reach out through mass contact; one helps online businesses segment their customers based on demographics whereas the other helps them segment them based on behavioral patterns; one helps businesses build deeper relationships with customers by asking them questions whereas the other helps them build those relationships by making them feel special by addressing them individually; one helps online businesses engage with their customers directly whereas the other helps them engage indirectly via social media channels; one helps online businesses identify and understand their customers better whereas the other helps them identify their customers better but also offers personalized communications at an individual level too; one relies on human intervention while the other doesn’t; one offers automated responses while the other just offers automated notifications; both help with support activities but one does it automatically whereas the other requires more human intervention; both help with sales activities but one does it automatically whereas the other requires more human intervention; one makes use of existing data while the other requires data entry; one works directly on webpages while the other works indirectly on webpages; one provides access to detailed information about customers while the other just provides quick snapshots of that information; both help online businesses grow faster but one does it via selling more products while the other does it via building deeper relationships with existing customers; both allow online businesses create beautiful landing pages but one uses templates while the other uses WYSIWYG editors; both allow users analyze customer feedback but one does it automatically while the other requires manual intervention etc. This clearly shows that there are no similarities between these two platforms except that they are meant mainly for communicating with customers and helping online businesses grow faster by helping them build stronger relationships with existing customers! Therefore, instead of competing against each other for dominance in their respective fields as most companies tend to do when they think alike (like Google vs Yahoo!), these two are destined to complement each other for the benefit of online businesses worldwide just like they already do at present!
