Google Groups was launched in the year 2001. It is a service which is provided by Google Inc. It enables people to create their own mailing lists for free and also enables them to send messages to everyone on the list. There are many people who use Google groups. They can subscribe to any group of their choice, they can view messages posted by people on the list and they can post their messages. At present, about 100 million groups are registered with Google groups. The number of members of these groups is about 10 million.
Tookan is a top that allows users to post messages on various mailing list. The messages that are posted by the users on the mailing lists are then sent to all the subscribers of that list. It is used everywhere, including the big companies like Cisco, Sun Microsystems, Alcatel, Nokia, HP etc.
Integration of Google Groups and Tookan has helped in saving time of the users. Earlier the users had to rely on the owners of the mailing lists for sending messages to all the subscribers of that group. Now users can directly send messages using their accounts at Google Groups. This helps in saving time because instead of sending messages through the owners of the mailing lists, one can send messages directly using his/her own account at Google Groups.
Also it is easy for users to send messages from their Gmail accounts or from any other domain because all they have to do is login to their Google Groups account and then reply to a message in a particular group in order to send a reply in a form of a message in that particular group. The advantage of this system is that it is simple and easy to use for everyone. It also saves time because when someone replies to a message, he/she does not have to write a new email because it will be sent in a form of a reply in a particular group.
The integration of Google Groups and Tookan has many benefits. Some of the benefits are mentioned below:
It is easy to integrate both Google Groups and Tookan. All that a user has to do is login into his/her Google Group account and then send messages from his/her Gmail account or from any other domain without having to logout from his/her account at Google Groups. It saves time because one does not have to logout from his/her Google Group account in order to send messages from his/her Gmail account or from any other domain. It provides security because one does not have to provide username and password again and again when logging into other services while using his/her account at Google Groups. It provides an integrated experience to the users because they do not have to log out from their Gmail account or from any other domain and then login into their Google Group account in order to send messages from their Gmail account or from any other domain. It helps in spreading awareness among users about using Google Groups because almost everyone uses Gmail so when one sends messages from his/her Gmail account or from any other domain, all the subscribers of that group get notified about it. If one does not use Gmail or if one does not want others to know that he/she uses Gmail, then he/she can simply use his/her domain email address and then send messages from his/her domain email address. Using this one can keep his/her Gmail identity private and then he/she can only send messages from his/her domain email address without revealing his/her Gmail identity.
Integration of Google Groups and Tookan has many advantages but one disadvantage is that there are some features which are not available for all groups which are created using Google Groups. For example it is not possible to add media files such as images, videos etc., at present for all groups which are created using Google groups. So if one wants to add media files such as images, videos etc., he/she will have to use Grouperator or Tookan separately.
