In this paper, I will discuss about the integration of Google Docs and Facebook Messenger. First, let us know what is Google Docs. Google Docs is online office suite that allows its users to create, edit, and share text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations online. It also allows users to possess a cloud-based storage in the form of a fpder. This is created by Google where no one but the owner has the access to it. This fpder is generally used for storing important files and personal information such as financial records, client information and business plans. On the other hand, Facebook Messenger is an instant messaging application owned by Facebook which was released on August 2011. This application allows users to communicate with each other via real time voice and video chat services. With the integration of these two applications, users can now easily exchange and edit documents from different formats using the same platform which not only saves time but also lets users communicate faster. The first part of this paper will discuss about the integration of Google Docs and Facebook Messenger.
Google Docs
Google Docs was launched in April 2006. It was developed as a software by Google which allowed users access documents from anywhere in the world through their web browser or mobile devices. However, since Google Docs was released during the time when Microsoft Office was still dominant, many users were hesitant to try it out and instead stick with the latter program. Thus, most people who have used Google Docs said that it was difficult to work with while others complained that they have to install several software just to be able to use Google Docs. Nevertheless, after years of improvements and better user interface, people are already more willing to try out Google Docs. In fact, as reported by Statista (2018), over 500 million people have already tried and continue to use Google Docs today. Aside from being widely used by individuals, some businesses have also started to integrate Google Docs into their workflow and have seen great success on account of it. For example, PwC (Price Waterhouse Cooper. found that by using Google Apps, it was able to cut down its cost of using Microsoft Office by 70%.
Facebook Messenger
Facebook Messenger is a messaging application owned by Facebook which was launched on August 2011. The application allows users to send messages via texts or instant messages. Additionally, users can send videos or pictures and make video calls to each other without having to pay for internet data charges as long as both parties are connected to the internet at the same time. Facebook Messenger can be accessed through web browsers or through mobile apps for Android and iOS devices. As of 2018, there are over 1 billion users registered on Facebook Messenger which makes it one of the most popular instant messaging applications in the world. In fact, Nielsen (2018. reported that 66% of users in North America and Western Europe uses Facebook Messenger monthly. This makes it more powerful than Skype (33%), Viber (29%), WeChat (27%. and even WhatsApp (26%. Moreover, this application is also used by businesses as they find it easier to connect with potential customers through Facebook Messenger than doing it through other means such as phone calls.
Google Docs and Facebook Messenger have been proven to be very beneficial to businesses and individuals worldwide. Through these two applications combined, it is possible for people to communicate faster and share documents without having to worry about compatibility issues with different devices or software programs. Furthermore, the integration between these two applications has also helped businesses save money as they no longer need to buy expensive software or hardware in order to accomplish their tasks.
