Integration of Google Docs and Evernote

In September 2008, Google launched a feature called “Google Docs” that allowed users to create and edit documents online while cplaborating with other users.A year after, a similar service called “Google Notebook” was launched to allow users to save notes online as plain text files. In December 2009, the former Notebook service was rebranded as “Google Keep”. In February 2012, Google Drive was launched to allow users to store files in the cloud. At the same time Google Drive integrated Google Docs, Google Keep and Google Slides into one product. With the integration of the three products, users can now access all three services through one login in the Drive website. However, the three features are still separate applications run from the same login. For that reason, there may be some conflicts between them such as if the user accidentally imports incorrect data into the wrong application. To ensure the integrity of each application, Google maintains separate servers for each application. However, the applications are integrated by using cross referencing tables so that they have an unified database for items such as file names and notes. As of October 2013, the apps support embedding of content from one application into another provided that no two applications use the same embed code.

Benefits of Integration of Google Docs and Evernote

The integration of Google Docs and Evernote makes it possible for users to switch between different applications depending on the need without losing their work in progress or synchronization with other devices.
