What is Google Contacts?

Google Contacts is a contact management program created by the Google company. It is a Web-based application for managing one’s address book and storing addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, IM handles, and other information on individuals. This application was originally called Grouptops and was created by the Google company in 2003 for their users. However, it was discontinued and replaced with Google Contacts a few years later in 2005. It is also possible to create groups of contacts within this address book and to link contacts to different e-mail accounts.
