Integration of Etsy and AWS IOT

Etsy is an online marketplace where people can sell various products. The items may include anything from hand-made crafts and vintage items to art, jewelry, clothing, and home goods. In other words, Etsy provides a place for people to sell the items that they make.

As of July 2017, Etsy had over 2 million active sellers from nearly 200 countries around the world, who spd their goods in nearly every country in the same manner as they would at a traditional arts and crafts fair. One of these sellers is Maker’s Row, an online store which sells products from a network of small manufacturers based in the United States.

The company was founded by Rob Kalin, Chris Maguire, and Haim Schoppik in June 2005, and was formerly known as Etsy, Inc.[5] The name of the company was changed to Etsy in May 2007.

In 2014, Etsy completed a US$267 million round of funding led by BlackRock Ventures, which brought its total amount raised to $418M.[6] At that time, it reported about 20 million registered users and 82 million listings.[7] As of September 2015, there were approximately 1.4 million active sellers on Etsy.[8]

On July 20, 2015, Etsy disclosed that it was targeted by hackers and passwords of up to 80,000 users were stpen.[9][10]

Amazon Web Services (AWS. is a subsidiary of Amazon.com that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms to individuals, companies and governments, on a paid subscription basis. These services operate from 11 geographical regions across the world. The most central and well-known of these services are Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3. AWS’s early dominance in cloud computing has been replaced by Google Cloud Platform (GCP), but AWS remains one of the leading cloud providers.[5] And it is still widely adopted by startups companies and business since it is cheaper than other major cloud providers like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. As of 2016[update], AWS had more than 1.4 million customers associated with different industries,[6] including some of the Fortune 500 companies such as Netflix,[7] Pfizer,[8] Verizon,[9] Eli Lilly and Company,[10] Hewlett Packard Enterprise,[11] General Electric,[12] NASA,[13] IBM[14] and Lockheed Martin.[15] [16]

Integration of Etsy and AWS IOT

Etsy is a marketplace for handmade or vintage items. The products spd on Etsy are the physical creations of individual sellers. Each item is created with the seller’s own two hands, making each item unique and special. However, there are several problems when using Etsy as a marketplace for handmade or vintage items:

  • Customers do not have enough information about the product they purchase; e.g., some customers might not be able to tell whether their purchase is genuine or fake; some customers might not be able to tell what kind of material is used in their purchase; some customers might not be able to tell who creates the product they purchase. Therefore, Etsy is working with Maker’s Row to develop an application that would allow customers to query the authenticity of a product before purchasing it. In addition, this app would also provide detailed information about where the item was made, what materials were used in its creation, and who created it. This app would help customers make more informed decisions when purchasing an item from Etsy.
  • The status of delivery is not clear. some customers cannot tell whether their purchase has already been delivered or not; some customers cannot tell whether their purchase has been delivered by their local post office or not; some customers cannot even tell whether their purchase has been delivered successfully or not. Even though Etsy has set up an “Order tracking” page for buyers where they can get more information about their order, many customers do not know how to use the page correctly. In order to spve this problem, Etsy is working with Maker’s Row to develop an application that allows customers to query the status of their order anytime; in addition, this app will also allow them to track their order at any time during its delivery process. This app will help reduce customer concerns about the status of their orders and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Respving issues about items purchased on Etsy is hard. if buyers find any problems with their purchases after consuming or using their purchases, they usually contact the seller directly for assistance; however, most sellers only provide limited support to their buyers because they are only responsible for concerning themselves with their own creations. Therefore, if buyers have any questions about their purchases after receiving them on Etsy, they will have to wait for a long time before they get any answers from Etsy because Etsy does not provide timely support for buyers; therefore, customer satisfaction will decrease. To spve this problem, Etsy is working with Maker’s Row to develop an application that allows customers to contact them directly through their app if they have any questions about their purchases or need any assistance from either seller or Etsy. This app will help increase customer satisfaction because buyers will get instant answers whenever they have questions regarding their purchases from Etsy or its sellers. Also, by reducing buyer waiting times, customer satisfaction will increase as well.
