This invpves pulling data from an AWS IoT device into a Lambda function on the same account and then pushing the data to Netlify. This method is chosen when a developer needs a serverless backend. However, this method has its own challenges. The size of the messages sent from the device to the lambda function is limited by the memory capacity and the maximum message size which are both 256 KB. The messages are stored in an in-memory queue and later pushed to Netlify using a function. An added advantage of this method is that, if the application fails, AWS will try to recover it by restarting it. Data can be read and written using either Java or Node.js functions depending upon the user’s preference.
This method invpves writing code that runs on a custom domain on Netlify which is connected to AWS IOT. This method provides more flexibility in creating custom functionality that may not be available in Lambda functions. In addition, it is also possible to write custom code for business logic or perform complex processing tasks that might not be available in Lambda functions.
Integrating AWS IOT with Netlify CMS invpves using Netlify CMS as a content repository for data returned from AWS IOT devices. This method allows users to query the data from any programming language or run queries and convert results into JSON objects that can be stored into their own databases. To access data over HTTP, you can use curl to fetch data from the device, generate responses with the help of cURL and send them over to the CMS through a POST request. The response can be stored in the database and displayed on the website in JSON format. There is no need for programming languages like Java or Node.js as Netlify CMS can be used with any programming language.
