Integration of AWS IOT and Flock

AWS IOT?

As per AWS, “Amazon Web Services (AWS. IoT is a managed cloud platform that lets connected devices easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices. AWS IoT enables secure, bi-directional communication between Internet of Things (IoT. devices and the cloud, so that devices can send data to be processed by cloud applications and can receive commands to act upon the data.”

AWS IOT is based on MQTT protocp which is based on the architecture of the internet. It has two parts:

MQTT client

MQTT server

Amazon IOT acts as an MQTT broker. The devices on the network communicate through it, but it doesn’t store any of the information itself. Instead it stores the information in the cloud on the MQTT servers. As per AWS, “All communication between AWS IoT endpoints is encrypted with mutual TLS.” This means that information sent over the network gets encrypted before it reaches AWS IOT, and after it reaches AWS IOT, it’s passed on to the MQTT servers for decryption.

Flock?

Flock is a piece of software that runs on Raspberry Pi computers. You can use Flock to monitor things, for example you could put it inside your home to track motion sensors or temperature measurements. You can also contrp Flock with your phone or computer.

Integration of AWS IOT and Flock

AWS IOT provides information about devices on your network. You can send messages to these devices using the message action, for example if you want to turn on a device. Flock allows you to send this information to an endpoint of your choosing via HTTP POST. This means you can have your Flock device post information to a web service hosted somewhere else, such as a database. By doing this, you can take your Flock device out of the loop and let someone else decide what to do with the information. Here’s how:
