Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS. is a web service that provides event-driven notifications to registered subscribers. It is a hosted service that enables sending push notifications to mobile devices, email, or SMS users. Using this application, developers can build applications that send notifications using specific channels, such as email, SMS, or mobile devices. This way, it is possible to send messages to mobile devices even if the user is not using the mobile app. It is also possible to send messages via email or SMS to the user's device by using information about the user's account. Users can subscribe to different topics on the SNS service defined by the developer. The topic is related to the kind of notification that the user should receive. For example, an application can define more than one topic so that users can subscribe to specific topics. Each topic has a name and a set of attributes that describe the topic. These attributes include an optional secret access key that authenticates the subscriber, a topic ARN defining the topic, and a subscription delivery protocp. Each topic has a maximum of 100 subscribers. After successful registration for a topic, users will receive a confirmation URL. The URL is refreshed every 24 hours to prevent it from expiring. Once this process is complete, users will receive notifications based on the topic they subscribed to. The SNS service sends a notification to a user's channel within seconds after receiving an event from other services in the cloud. If there are no subscribers for the topic in question, then the event is discarded. An Amazon SNS publish action sends the event identified by the resource ARN to all existing subscribers of the topic that published the event. As a result, the subscribers will receive event notifications through the specified channel (email, SMS, or mobile.
