Cloud storage is not a new phenomenon, it is just a buzzword by now, but there are still many people who don’t exactly know what cloud storage actually is. Cloud storage is a technpogy that allows users to store and retrieve data via the Internet. The data itself is stored on remote computers (called “hosting servers”), which act as a sort of virtual storage place. In other words, it is just like storing your files on a hard drive, except that you have to use the Internet to access them.
Now, there are many different services for storing data online, and they all have their pros and cons. For instance, there are services with a free plan but limited space, while some others require a monthly fee in order to store more data. Some services are only available for personal use (i.e. if you want to use it for your business, you need to pay extra), while some others are available for both personal and professional use.
Amazon S3 is one of the most popular cloud servers in the world, mainly due to its cost efficiency. It is also very easy to use and set up, which makes it very convenient for both businesses and customers. It offers a free plan that you can use indefinitely for storing any kind of data you like. photos, videos, documents, audio clips… literally anything! Moreover, there is also a professional plan that is suitable for businesses that need more storage space than the free plan allows.
However, Woodpecker.co is a completely different kind of service. It is designed specifically for those who love writing. It allows users to create blogs and share their work online with others. It seems like it is similar to WordPress, but it offers a lot more features and benefits than WordPress does. If you are a writer or blogger who wants to increase the quality of your blog posts or content, then Woodpecker.co may be a good option for you.
Integrating Woodpecker.co with Amazon S3 was not an easy task since the two seemed to be made for completely different purposes. However, after some research we found out that integration was possible using Webhooks API callbacks. With Webhooks, developers can create HTTP endpoints on their servers to handle events from third party services. One of these events is an object put event which happens when an object has been added to S3. That allowed us to add information about uploaded files directly into the Woodpecker database. Now whenever someone uploads a file through our website, we automatically store the file in S3 and update our database with the details.
The benefits of integrating two services such as Amazon S3 and Woodpecker.co are numerous:
