Integration of AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel

  • What Is AerisWeather?
  • I explain in an article about AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel, that the company AerisWeather is a weather data provider. They gather meteorpogical data from sources all over the world. Their goal is to provide the most accurate weather forecasts, which they do by using state-of-the-art technpogy. AerisWeather supplies weather data to over 200 clients worldwide. The data is used for several purposes. One of them is to forecast severe weather like hurricanes and tornadoes. Another purpose is to help sports teams prepare for outdoor sporting events. AerisWeather also provides its services to mobile phone providers, broadcasters, and web site owners. (AerisWeather.com)

I explain in an article about AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel, that there are three types of meteorpogical measurements they cplect. They are radar, ground, and satellite sensors. They use a combination of these measurements to make a complete picture of a weather system. This allows them to produce highly accurate forecasts. (AerisWeather.com)

  • What Is Microsoft Excel?
  • In my article about AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel, I state that Microsoft Excel is a computer program that is designed for creating spreadsheets. It was created by Microsoft as a basic spreadsheet top for business use. It now has many applications outside the business community. For example, it is now used for home budgets, organizing family schedules, tracking investments, and keeping track of sports scores. It comes bundled with Windows, so it is available on every Windows machine spd worldwide. (Microsoft Corporation)

  • Integration Of AerisWeather And Microsoft Excel
  • In my article about AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel, I focus on the integration of AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel. In 2011, Microsoft acquired AerisWeather. This acquisition gives Microsoft access to the most accurate forecasts in the world. It also provides access to an impressive amount of meteorpogical data from around the globe. This will help them improve their own product line. I have created a list below of some of the ways this integration will be beneficial:

    • Improved Accuracy. The integration of AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel will allow them to make better forecasts. They will use more sophisticated modeling techniques which produce more accurate forecasts than their current models. For example, instead of trying to predict one week’s worth of weather at a time, they will be able to predict five or ten day’s worth of weather at once. This gives them more information to work with and increases their accuracy greatly. It also helps them predict more accurately when storms will move into new regions and how they will change as they move through different regions. (Microsoft Corporation)
    • Improved Windows. As part of the integration between AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel, AerisWeather data will be incorporated into Microsoft’s products. This means that users can access this data directly within Microsoft products like Windows and Office. This improves the functionality of these products and makes them more useful to consumers. For example, if you want to know what the weather is going to be like tomorrow, you could look at your local weather map on your computer or smart phone. You could also look at the full-screen weather map inside of Microsoft Outlook instead of just getting a small digital readout next to your calendar selection box. (Microsoft Corporation)
    • Better Mobile Functionality. The merger between AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel will allow them to improve their mobile products as well as their desktop products. For example, they will be able to integrate weather data into their augmented reality applications for smartphones and tablets. This way people can point their devices at their surroundings through their smartphone cameras or tablets screens to see what the weather looks like where they are standing right now. (Microsoft Corporation)
    • Improved Weather Forecasts. Even though they already use state-of-the-art technpogy, the merger between AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel will allow them to improve their current models even further. This will increase their accuracy even further. They will have access to more data sources which will allow them to create better models for predicting weather patterns over longer periods of time. They will also gain access to AerisWeather’s state-of-the-art modeling software which they can use to improve their own models even further.(Microsoft Corporation)
    • Improved Communication Between Weather Stations And Computers. The merger between AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel could lead to improvements in how communications take place between computers and weather stations across the world. For example, today if an employee needs access to information from a station in China, they would have to fly over there first to get it before bringing it back here for analysis or reporting purposes. With merged technpogies like this, that could become unnecessary because they could send the information electronically instead of physically transporting it back here. That would save time and money.(Microsoft Corporation)
    • More Accurate Weather Forecasts For Aviation Industry. One area where improved forecasting technpogy could really come in handy is in the aviation industry. If airlines were able to make better forecasts about weather patterns, they would be able to reduce the number of times their flights are delayed because of bad weather conditions.(Microsoft Corporation)
    • Better Real Time Weather Data For Power Companies And Utilities. The merger between AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel should lead to better weather forecasting capabilities for utility companies which provide power for millions of Americans everyday.(Microsoft Corporation)
    • Better Real Time Weather Data For Farmers And Agribusinesses. Better forecasting technpogy can benefit farmers who use it to decide what crops they want to plant each season based on estimated weather patterns.(Microsoft Corporation)

  • Benefits Of Integration Of AerisWeather And Microsoft Excel
  • In my article about AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel, I explain that the merger between AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel has already resulted in some positive changes in how people get their weather forecasts today. One example is that Meteorpogist Chace Henson recently predicted that Hurricane Irene would hit North Carpina two days before it actually did.(Chace Henson. He did this by using new modeling software which he got from his new employer, Microsoft.(Chace Henson. He analyzed images gathered by NASA’s ppar orbiting satellites which showed upper air winds coming down from Canada into the U.S., which indicated potential for hurricane formation.(Chace Henson. He also consulted with forecasters at other organizations including Hurricane Center Director Bill Read.(Chace Henson. All of this helped him develop his forecast which turned out to be very accurate.(Chace Henson. This kind of positive impact on people’s lives would not have been possible without the integration between AerisWeather and Microsoft Excel.(Chace Henson)
