Integration of Zoho CRM and WordPress

Zoho CRM can be integrated with WordPress effectively. The process invpves making an API call from WordPress to the Zoho CRM REST API. In this article, we will be using PHP as the programming language for WordPress website. Here are the steps that need to be performed in order to integrate Zoho CRM with WordPress:

  • Create a new project in Zoho CRM by going to “Create” option.
  • click on the “New Project” option in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Fill out all the required information for the project, such as Name, Description, Timezone, etc.
  • Now you have to associate Zoho CRM with WordPress. For that, go to the “Setup” > “Integrations” section. In this section, you can find various integration options such as Google Analytics, Salesforce, Twitter, etc., but what you need here is “WordPress” integration option. Click on it.
  • A new popup will appear with the title “Add New Integration” which contains two sections, “Webhooks” and “Integration Settings”. Click on the “Integration Settings” section.
  • Next, you will see three sections in this page. General Settings, Integration Key and Advanced Settings. The General settings includes details about Title & Description which will be shown in webhooks list in WP admin area. The Integration Key is an important part of this integration because it will be used for communication between WordPress and Zoho CRM. Hence, it should never be shared with anyone or put in any public space that can be accessed by others. For example, if you are integrating this integration into WordPress website that is hosted on localhost, then use localhost instead of yourdomainnamehere in place of wp_your_domain_here_com_wp_here . Now click on the “Save” button.
  • You will get the fplowing message after saving the project successfully. “Your project has been saved successfully” which means that you have successfully created a project in Zoho CRM. Next, you have to configure webhooks for this integration in WordPress website. Go back to your WordPress website by clicking on “Go Back” link in the bottom right corner of this page.
  • Click on the “Plugins” tab under the “Settings” menu item in WordPress website. Then search for “ZohoCRM for WP” plugin in the search bar in the top left corner of the screen and install it if it isn’t already installed on your site yet. Once installed, activate it by clicking on its name in the “Plugins” tab under the “Plugins” menu item in WordPress website. This plugin allows you to integrate your Zoho CRM with WordPress website through webhooks calls. To configure webhooks, go to the “ZohoCRM for WP” plugin page under “Settings” > “ZohoCRM for WP” menu item in WordPress website. Click on the “Webhooks” tab in this page to view webhooks list for this plugin. Click on the “Add New Webhook” button at the center of this page to add a new webhook for this plugin on your site which will be used for communication between WordPress and Zoho CRM via API calls. You can add multiple webhooks for different purpose such as lead creation webhook, contact creation webhook etc., depending upon your requirement and need of your site/website/blog/etc..
  • Just like we did while configuring integration settings earlier we have to fill up all required information such as Name and Description and also choose a domain under Domain field where we want our webhooks calls to be executed when there is some new activity on Zoho CRM side such as lead creation, contact creation etc.. As an example we will choose localhost which means that our webhooks will get executed at http://localhost/wp_your_domain_here_com_wp_here/webhooks/zohocrm_event_for_wp_here/ where wp_your_domain_here_com_wp_here is my WordPress website’s URL and zohocrm_event_for_wp_here is my domain name of my webhooks which I created earlier while creating a project in Zoho CRM which you can find under Integration Key section when you were creating a project in Zoho CRM previously under Step 6 above.. Once done with all fields click on “Save Changes” button at bottom right corner of screen to save webhook settings successfully in WordPress website so that when there is some new activity on Zoho CRM side such as lead creation or contact creation they will be published in our website through these webhooks calls properly.. Now return back to your project overview screen inside Zoho CRM where you created a project earlier in Step 3 above by clicking on “Go Back” link in bottom right corner of screen.. In order to make an API call from WordPress website to Zoho CRM REST API we need to create an API key from Zoho CRM side first.. To do so simply click on the “API Keys” tab under “Integrations” section under your project overview screen inside Zoho CRM.. Then click on the “Create Key” button at bottom right corner of screen.. Now a new popup will appear with a title of Create New API Key with two sections. General Settings and Integration Settings.. In General Settings section enter an ID and Name of your choice for this API key.. In Integration Settings section enter Namespace as wpcrm , Resource Path as /api/v1/users/[userId] , Scope as read:contacts , Tenant Id as 1111111111 , Tenant Secret as 1111111111 , Tenant Type as ad-org , Version as 14 .. Then click on the “Create Key” button.. You will get a success message that says “Your Key Has Been Created Successfully!” which means that you have successfully created an API key from Zoho CRM side which will be used by WordPress for communicating with Zoho CRM via API calls.. Now go back to your WordPress website by clicking on “Go Back” link in bottom right corner of screen.. In order to make an API call from WordPress website to Zoho CRM REST API we need to make sure that we have installed php curl library via PHP Extension and Application Repository (PEAR. or PECL extension installation method.. So go ahead and install it if it isn’t already installed on your site yet.. Once installed open a PHP file where you want to make a PHP curl call from WordPress website to Zoho CRM REST API using PHP curl library via PEAR installation method.. At the top of your file add fplowing line. require 'vendor/autpoad.php'; $dummy = array( 'wpcrm' => array( 'name' => 'www', 'version' => 1, 'id' => '1111111111', 'secret' => '1111111111', 'tenant_id' => '2222222222', 'tenant_type' => 'ad-org
