YouTube, a video-sharing website that allows users to upload, share and view videos, was created in 2005 by three former PayPal employees. The company Google acquired YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion (Table 1. YouTube has a social media platform where people can interact with them. This is the main reason why YouTube is an integral part of the Internet. Facebook and Twitter have also fplowed the trend of having videos as its main form of communication.
Integration is defined as the act or state of combining two or more things into one. According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary (2009), integration refers to a process of combining individual elements into a whpe. In relation to this, YouTube and SproutVideo can be integrated together because they are both video-sharing websites. SproutVideo, just like YouTube, has a social media platform as well as a video editor that allows users to add music to their video. Moreover, it has features that are similar to that of YouTube such as the ability to subscribe, comment and rate videos (SproutVideo, 2010. These are the reasons why YouTube and SproutVideo should be integrated together.
There are many benefits to integrating YouTube and SproutVideo together other than what was mentioned above. One of these benefits is access to more content. Having both of these platforms integrated together would give users access to more videos from different sources as well as having several ways to access the same video. For example, if one user wanted to watch a video about how to make a banana split, the user could use the search button on YouTube or he could go directly to SproutVideo using the same search term. Also, integration means that users can easily switch from one video to another while still retaining the same platform. An example of this is when a user is watching a video on YouTube he can then click on a related video while still retaining the same platform.
In conclusion, I believe that YouTube and SproutVideo should be integrated together. There are several reasons for this but one of the main reasons is because both sites contain videos that users can watch. If there were no videos available on either site then I do not think that users would go there unless they were lured by the advertisements found on both sites. Also, integration would mean that users would have a greater variety of videos to choose from hence making it easier for them to find what they are looking for. Moreover, integration would also mean that users would not have to go between two different websites in order to get what they want which makes it easier for them and saves time thus making them more efficient.
