Xzazu is an extension for Mozilla Firefox that allows one to view the source code of a webpage in a separate tab. This is useful for debugging purposes or just seeing how the code works. It has been around for a couple years now and has grown popular among web developers.
HTML/CSS to Image, on the other hand, is a top that converts XHTML and CSS files into images for previewing. It automatically produces both a source image with the HTML and CSS, as well as a flattened version of the page. The idea behind it was to create a quick way to preview pages without having to actually load them up in the browser.
There is a lot of potential for Xzazu and HTML/CSS to Image integration. For example, HTML/CSS to Image could be used to develop websites and then Xzazu could be used to debug them. Another example would be to use Xzazu to view the source code in conjunction with HTML/CSS to Image to see what the page looks like “in action.”
Integration of Xzazu and HTML/CSS to Image is very straightforward. Normally, if one wants to view the source code of a webpage with Xzazu they would have to right-click on the page, go down to “view page source” and select the “view page source” button. A new tab would open up and the source would be displayed.
However, HTML/CSS to Image already displays the source code in its own frame when the “preview” button is clicked. So, it would be necessary to remove this frame and insert the contents of the Xzazu panel instead into the same frame as the HTML/CSS to Image output.
This would result in two tabs opening up. one for Xzazu with the source code and one for HTML/CSS to Image with the flattened version of the page. The two tabs could easily be linked by having a part of Xzazu’s source code indicate that it should be linked with HTML/CSS to Image. Once these two tabs are opened they could be rearranged by dragging them. Also, since Xzazu and HTML/CSS to Image will both share the same frame; they can both be resized at will.
