Integration of WooCommerce and Toggl

  • WooCommerce is an open-source eCommerce plugin for WordPress, founded by the developers of WordPress itself, and was first released in January 2011. Initially, it was a fork of Jigoshop, but it has since evpved into a completely separate project that now has its own dedicated development team.
  • Toggl is a web and mobile time tracking application used by over a million people every day. It provides a simple interface to track time from anywhere. It supports individual tasks, projects and teams. Users can also create invoices from within the application.
  • Integration of WooCommerce and Toggl
    • Interaction between WooCommerce and Toggl is seamless through a fourth party app called WooCommerce Toggl Integration.
    • The integration allows you to choose a Toggl project for a specific WooCommerce order. You can assign a project to multiple orders as well.
    • The integration gives you a Toggl project ID which is a unique identifier assigned to a given project. This enables you to track time on the project level while reporting time on the order level.
    • You can view the current status of an order in Toggl after it has been completed in WooCommerce. Toggl will show timesheet entries for any completed WooCommerce order based on whether they are marked as ‘Active’ or ‘Completed’ in WooCommerce.
    • You can view your total hours on an order at once, assigning them to the relevant project.
    • If you want to change the project on an order after completing it in WooCommerce, this can be done easily through the integration app with just one click of a button.
    • You can edit your existing orders in Toggl after they have been closed in WooCommerce.
    • A new order can be created in Toggl after an order has been completed in WooCommerce.
    • You can undo changes made to an existing order in Toggl if it is still open in the WooCommerce dashboard.
    • You can attach estimates to an order before ordering it in Toggl, so if you are uncertain how long it will take to complete the order, you can create an estimate instead of the actual time tracked when completing the order.
    • You can view detailed estimates on orders before you start tracking them in Toggl, which helps you prioritize which orders you should start working on first when you login to do some work in Toggl.
    • You can update your time tracker status in Toggl after using the extension buttons on the WooCommerce backend, without having to leave the page you are currently on.
    • You are notified about any updates made to orders in the WooCommerce backend in real-time through notifications in Toggl, allowing you to select the orders most important to you and track them immediately when you log into Toggl.
    • You can assign yourself to an order in Toggl even before you have received or started working on it in WooCommerce, making it possible for you to keep better track of how many orders there are that need your attention at any given time.
    • If you are not able to complete an order because of reasons beyond your contrp, you can mark the order as ‘On Hpd’ in Toggl so that it does not affect your overall productivity metrics in any way, while being able to assign it later when you start working on it again and finish it successfully later.
    • You can mark time tracked on orders as billable or non-billable hours directly from Toggl and add regular rates and billing details for each client and project right from within the app itself, without having to go back and forth between multiple applications to manage your time tracking and invoicing details separately.
