Integration of WHMCS and OpsGenie

WHMCS (Web Hosting Master Contrp Panel. is a web-based hosting contrp panel that enables web hosts and resellers to manage their clients' accounts, services, and products. It was founded in 2004 by Rui Chen, Stephen Luigman, John Truitt, and Rick Bushey. WHMCS is designed to be user-friendly for technically unskilled web hosting providers and administrators. It is open-source software, free to download under the GNU GPL license. The product's development is led by Rui Chen and its headquarters are in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

OperationsGenie is an alert management service that provides businesses with powerful alerting tops for monitoring servers, websites, applications, networking equipment, mobile devices, and more. OpsGenie allows users to create custom alert rules based on multiple parameters such as response time, HTTP response code, throughput, CPU usage, etc. The alert can be configured to notify users via SMS, phone call or email. By integrating OpsGenie with WHMCS, customers using WHMCS will be able to view detailed information of any server failure through their OpsGenie Dashboard.

Integration of WHMCS and OpsGenie

In this section, we will explain how OpsGenie helps WHMCS users by integrating OpsGenie with WHMCS. You can also see a demonstration of the integration in this video.

  • User Interface - In the Web Hosting -> Account Information page in WHMCS, there is a new tab for "Alerts" which shows all alerts generated from WHMCS. If there is an alert in the "Alerts" tab, a pop up box will appear to provide a short summary of the alert and a link to the full alert details in the OpsGenie dashboard. The user can choose to dismiss the alert from this pop up box.
  • Email Notifications - Users can set alerts from WHMCS to be sent to their email addresses. These email notifications contain a summary of the alert and a link to view the full alert details in OpsGenie dashboard. In addition to this integration, WHMCS users have the ability to use an API key to send alerts from WHMCS to OpsGenie. This allows them to configure a firewall or load balancer in front of their website that would trigger a notification in OpsGenie if there was a network connectivity outage that prevented access to their website or other network services.
  • Mobile Push Notifications - OpsGenie provides mobile push notifications for Android and iOS devices via Prowl and Pushover respectively. Users can configure alerts from WHMCS to send mobile push notifications to their mobile devices when they occur. When the alert occurs, the user can view the alert details and take necessary actions immediately without having to retrieve their phones and open apps manually.
  • Integration with ServiceNow - As mentioned before, WHMCS and ServiceNow provide complementary services and can both benefit from integration with each other. Using the WHMCS integration with ServiceNow allows ServiceNow users to get alerts generated from WHMCS immediately without having to wait for email notifications or opening an additional browser window to view alerts generated from WHMCS.

Benefits of Integration of WHMCS and OpsGenie

OpsGenie provides many benefits to WHMCS users such as:

  • Faster notification delivery - The integration between OpsGenie and WHMCS allows text messages and push notifications to be delivered faster than email notifications because text messages and push notifications do not require an SMTP server and email client software on the recipient's side like email does.
  • Mobile alerts - Mobile push notifications allow users to get alerts about issues affecting their websites on their mobile phones immediately without having to rely on email or opening an app manually on your mobile phone every time an alert occurs. This allows users to take immediate action when an alert occurs instead of waiting until they check their email or retrieve their mobile phone and open an app manually every time an alert occurs.
  • Open source - The integration between OpsGenie and WHMCS is completely open source and available for anyone to use and extend upon by implementing the API provided by OpsGenie for writing custom integrations with WHMCS.

The integration of OpsGenie with WHMCS makes it easy for WHMCS users to be notified about issues affecting their websites as soon as they happen so that they can take appropriate actions as soon as possible instead of having to wait until they check their email or retrieve their mobile devices and open apps manually every time an issue occurs. This integration also allows users to send alerts from WHMCS to OpsGenie directly using an API key which allows them to set up firewalls and load balancers in front of their websites that would trigger a notification in OpsGenie if there was a disruption in network connectivity preventing access to their website or other network services automatically whenever the connectivity is disrupted.

The process to integrate WHMCS and OpsGenie may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
