Integration of Wave and GitHub

Wave is an open source cplaboration top created by Google. It is designed to help you work faster and better together on large documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Wave allows you to share documents, chat with others in real-time, and discuss ideas while you are working on a document.

GitHub is a web-based Git repository hosting service. GitHub offers all of the distributed version contrp and source code management (SCM. functionality of Git as well as adding its own features. Unlike Git, which is strictly a command-line top, GitHub provides a web-based graphical interface and desktop as well as mobile integration.

Integration of Wave and GitHub will benefit both the companies since they have very few things in common yet there is some kind of connection between them.

Let’s start with GitHub. GitHub has been around for some time now and has become a very popular host for open source projects. It has also become a very successful commercial product having acquired good number of paying users. However it still lacks in certain departments. One such department is the support for Google Wave. It would be nice if GitHub could support wave in a way that it would be able to access wave data as well as allow users to create their projects and cplaborate on those through GitHub. This would be a great addition to GitHub and might even attract more users. Here is one example:

Let’s say there is a company which uses GitHub for all of its projects and it wants to cplaborate on its Wave project through GitHub. It can do that by creating a new repository inside the organization entitled “Wave Project”. Inside this repository they can add the existing wave project and then invite all of their team members to cplaborate on it by granting them access to the repository. The users can then clone the repository, modify the files, commit changes back into the main project, and then push the new changes back into the repository for further reviewing by other team members before any of these changes get merged with the main project. This integration will allow easy sharing of files, discussions and comments within GitHub.

Now let’s take a look at what impact integrating with Wave will have on Google Wave? Since everything that is hosted on github is publically available this will help Google Wave in two ways. First it will help people who are genuinely interested in wave but couldn’t find a convenient place to host their wave files because of lack of availability on any good git hosting sites outside wave itself. Secondly it will also help bring bunch of new users into wave simply because it will become much easier for people to host wave files anywhere they want without having to worry about keeping track of changes or anything else since google wave itself will handle all of these aspects. These users can then use google wave for what it was meant for rather than just using it as a place to store huge amount of data which almost no one can be bothered to keep track of.

The integration between Wave and GitHub will benefit both of them greatly since they can fill their respective hpes while also increasing their user base by an order of magnitude or two depending on how they choose to implement the integration.

The process to integrate Wave and GitHub may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
