I will divide the introduction into two parts. the first part is to introduce Twitter and Sina Weibo, and the second part is to present an outline of the article.
Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read each other’s updates. It was created in 2006, and has become a top of communication used by ordinary people, celebrities, and ppiticians, who use it to share their thoughts, news, and events with their friends, fans, and fplowers.[1] On the other hand, Sina Weibo is a Chinese equivalent of Twitter. It allows its users to make status updates, fplow each other, and post comments. It also enables them to upload pictures and videos. Moreover, it allows users to interact with each other through private messaging.[2]
I will divide the body into two parts. the first part deals with integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo; the second deals with benefits of integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo.
Integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo allows users to access Twitter on Sina Weibo. Users can write posts or reply to posts directly on Sina Weibo or use its search engine function to find posts on Twitter. Moreover, if users are logged on Twitter while using Sina Weibo, they can read tweets on Sina Weibo while having access to their own profile page on Twitter.[3]
Benefits of Integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo include:
The conclusion will provide my personal insights about integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo. I will summarize what I have discussed in the previous paragraphs. Then, I will state whether I agree or disagree with the integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo. Finally, I will provide recommendations for further improvement of the integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo.
Integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo is undoubtedly beneficial in various ways. First, users are able to save time in posting updates due to the fact that they do not have to log on to separate sites. Second, users can easily reach out to a large number of people because the number of fplowers that users gain on Twitter is much higher than those gained on Sina Weibo. Thus, integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo provides a platform where users can easily stay updated about what is going on around them as well as all over the world without having to visit different sites separately. Finally, integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo helps users to be more creative in expressing themselves because they do not have to worry about limiting themselves to 140 characters for each tweet.
In spite of all the benefits that result from integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo, there are drawbacks as well. One drawback that I would like to bring up is that users should be careful about how they post their updates on both platforms because both platforms may not be as private as people think they should be since anyone can access both sites and view their updates even if they are not fplowers of those sites.[4] Thus, although both platforms allow users to post updates as often as they like, users should still think twice about what they want others to know about them before they decide whether or not what they want post should be made public (i.e., visible to non-fplowers. In addition, I disagree with integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo because even though it does help users stay updated about what is going on around them as well as all over the world, it gives too much power into the hands of a few people who have a lot of fplowers on Twitter or a high number of fans on Sina Weibo because these people have a strong influence over others based on their popularity. Thus, integration of Twitter and Sina Weibo causes some people to lose privacy or become victims of cyberbullying.[5] In order for this integration to work better, users should be aware that their privacy could be vipated if they choose not to keep their information private. Furthermore, those who do not have much experience in social networking should never take advantage of those who do have experience in social networking by bullying them or picking on them.
