Integration of Teachable and Amazon EC2

Teachable is a web-based platform that helps teachers to create and sell courses online. Launched in 2012, Teachable has helped over 1,000 instructors in more than 100 countries to create and sell online courses. The platform supports a wide range of formats and languages, including video, audio, text, or a combination of any of them.

Teachable is an online teaching platform for professionals who want to make their expertise available to the world. It enables instructors to customize their course offerings and then sell them directly to students in the open marketplace. Instructors can also engage with their students through live classes, private messaging, forums, and one-on-one video chat. Teachable allows instructors to build a fplowing in just a few hours and monetize their expertise with no technical skills required.

Amazon EC2 is an Amazon Web Service that provides reliable, scalable, and inexpensive computing capacity in the cloud. Amazon EC2 offers computing capacity in the cloud where you can launch as many virtual servers as you need. You can pay only for the capacity that you actually use. Amazon EC2 is available in 2 types:

· Amazon EC2 instances. Amazon EC2 instances are virtual machine instances that you can use to deploy your applications. You can choose between Windows or Linux based operating systems. There are various types of Amazon EC2 instances, depending on your requirements. instance types optimized for memory-intensive workloads; storage optimized instances; general purpose instance types; GPU based instances; and so on.

· Amazon EC2 images. Amazon EC2 images are preconfigured with the software, security settings, and access permissions required to run instances. We offer free images with popular software, such as WordPress, Apache, NGINX, Jenkins CI, PHPMyAdmin etc. In addition, we provide preconfigured images for Google Cloud Platform (GCP. workloads such as GKE, GCP Runit, App Engine flexible environment, App Engine standard environment etc. (Learn how to create and manage customized Amazon EC2 images.

The integration of Teachable with Amazon EC2 allows users to be able to host their courses on AWS. Users can now easily share their course content directly via Teachable’s platform. They can also choose to host their course content on AWS if they have already created it there. The benefit of this integration is that users will be able to avoid the headache of creating their own VMs or setting up their own hosting environment on AWS. It will also allow users to share their content directly from Teachable’s platform without worrying about its hosting location. If a user wants to host his/her course content on AWS then the user can simply fplow the instructions below:

Step 1. Create a new course in Teachable. Select “Host with Amazon Web Services” from the drop-down menu:

Step 2. In the next step, select your AWS account and region from the drop down menus:

Step 3. Next you will be taken to another page which will display the fplowing information. course package name, AWS Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. Select “Create course” button:

Step 4. Click “Go To Your Course” button:

Step 5. Log in to your AWS account if prompted after you click “Go To Your Course” button:

Step 6. Select the “Web & Mobile” option from the left-hand navigation bar:

Step 7. Click on “Web Server Images” from the top navigation menu of the EC2 Management conspe:

Note. If you don’t see the Web Server Images link, please go back to Step 4 where you should have been prompted to log in to your AWS account. After logging in, you should be able to see “Web Server Images” link in the left-hand navigation bar. Next click “Go To Your Course” button again and repeat Step 6 through Step 7. This time you should be able to see “Web Server Images” link in the top navigation menu of the EC2 Management conspe. If you still don’t see “Web Server Images” link then try closing all other browser windows and tabs before proceeding further with this guide. Now proceed with Step 8 below.

Step 8. You should now see the list of images for PHP based applications on AWS:

Step 9. Click on “Choose AMI” from the top navigation menu:

Step 10. Select “Community AMIs” tab from the top navigation menu of this page:

Step 11. Then select Teachable image from the list of all images available on AWS:

Step 12. Next click on “Confirm and Launch” button:

Step 13. Finally click “Launch” button. The process may take a few minutes before it completes successfully:

After completing these steps successfully your course content will be hosted on AWS! You can confirm this by going back to “Public URL” tab on Teachable’s management conspe again where you should be able to see your course hosted on AWS like this screenshot below (note that this screenshot shows a sample course that I created using Teachable):
