Sympla is an online address book that integrates with Google Contacts. The aim of this project was to create a new address book that allows integration with Google Contacts in order to keep both Sympla and Google Contacts synchronized. This way, users would no longer have to manually update their contact information, which can be tedious when they are away from their computer. At the same time, the integration will make it much easier for them to use Google Contacts because it will be updated automatically with their updated information in Sympla.
The spution proposed in this project is to integrate Sympla with Google Contacts by using the Google API to create a program called Sympla Sync. When users update their contact information in Google Contacts, Sympla will automatically sync its database with the newly updated data. Similarly, when users update their contact information in Sympla, it will sync the updated data with Google Contacts.
Integrating Sympla and Google Contacts will not only save users time by making it easier for them to synchronize the two programs, but it will also eliminate the need for users to manually enter their contact information into another program without losing their information in one or both programs. Nowadays, people often use multiple devices like tablets and phones to access their contacts. If they change their phones, they need to transfer their contacts again to their new phone. However, if they choose to use Sympla sync, they will not need to transfer their contact information again because it will be updated automatically. Also, if they want to switch phones while keeping their contacts on what will be their pd phone (and therefore not losing any contact information), they can simply sign into that phone with their account and then load all of their contacts into that device.
