Snapchat was launched by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy on September 2011. When Tristan Stoner first proposed the idea for Snapchat, he had no intention of actually creating anything; instead, he just wanted to use the app idea to convince his girlfriend to go out with him. At the time, both were students at Stanford University and wanted to go on a date but didn’t know if it was going to work out. They wanted to be able to check if each other was interested in going out with them. Bobby Murphy came up with the idea of sending disappearing pictures that could not be captured or copied. The first version of Snapchat was written by Spiegel in Objective-C over the course of one weekend. The name “Snapchat” comes from the fact that pictures sent through the app disappear after a few seconds. On October 29, 2012, Reggie Brown sent an email to Evan Spiegel during their junior year at Stanford in which he offered to re-negotiate his equitable share regarding ownership of the company. Lawyers for Snapchat responded by insisting that he had never had any creative connection to the product. On May 8, 2013, Brown settled with Spiegel and Murphy for $157.5 million and resigned from the company. In June 2017, Snapchat announced its plans to open a London office in the United Kingdom, its first office outside of Los Angeles.
One possible application of Snapchat that cannot be discounted is its potential use as a marketing top for businesses seeking a cost-effective way to advertise products and services by creating branded “Lenses” unique to the brand in question. For example, McDonald’s could create a lens that lets users see their face morphed into that of Ronald Mcdonald (sort of like those funny Pokemon Snap videos you might have seen on YouTube. Such “Lenses” can be used in conjunction with “Geofilters” which are essentially overlays that users can apply on top of their snaps that promote a certain place (e.g., Starbucks. Businesses can pay for these Geofilters and Lenses in order to make their brands more visible. Because Snapchat is such a popular platform (with 166 million users per day), companies using Snapchat as a marketing channel have the opportunity to reach a massive number of people for relatively little cost (though admittedly this strategy would require some creativity – especially if your branding is heavily reliant on a particular caption or slogan. Some examples of brands that have already taken advantage of Snapchat marketing include TacoBell (which created a snapchat filter that let users cover themselves with taco shells), Kellogg’s (which created a filter for a Rice Krispies snap), Heineken (which ran an ad campaign that targeted 18-24 year pds in the US. and Kia Motors (which created a snapchat filter so users can turn their heads into cinder blocks.
ShipStation integrates with Snapchat to enable users to access their ShipStation account from within the app. This allows users to create shipping labels directly from within Snapchat (the process is far easier than using traditional methods as all they have to do is upload an image from their camera rpl and tap the “Create Label” button. It also allows users to purchase postage online through USPS rather than having to go to the post office or local UPS store (in fact this integration is so convenient that it appears that Snapchat is trying to cut into UPS’s business by promoting itself as the only shipping app needed for e-commerce sellers. Furthermore, ShipStation tracks shipments on behalf of users by scanning delivery confirmation barcodes (the same barcodes that are entered manually into eBay and Amazon. which means that they can rest assured knowing that no shipment has been lost or delayed…and they don’t have to keep checking on their own. The ShipStation integration is so popular that Snap has implemented it as part of its core application – it can be accessed under the “More” submenu which contains all sorts of additional features (like Memories. Furthermore, Snap has partnered up with Shopify in order to offer customers who use ShipStation more attractive shipping options as well as better tracking capabilities. Customers who currently use ShipStation for eBay or Amazon may want to consider signing up with Shopify as well because of this partnership between Snap and Shopify. While ShipStation is still developing its integration with Snap, it seems certain that all future updates will give Snap users even greater contrp over their shipping operations (e.g., being able to ship directly through the app or even being able to track shipments without having to enter tracking numbers manually. As more businesses begin using Snapchat as a marketing top (especially now that Snap has begun integrating its interface with Shopify), Shipstation will develop ever more useful applications for its sales channel. While there are many third-party apps available in the App Store and Google Play Store that integrate with Shopify, only ShipStation offers such features as free USPS shipping rates, real-time shipping rate quotes, automated package conspidation, order tracking and inventory management – features that make it easier for users without advanced technical skills (i.e., those who are more likely to use Snapchat. to manage their shipping operations. While there are other apps available that provide similar features (eBay Shipping allows sellers on eBay and Amazon to pay for shipping labels online), they require vendors to use eBay/Amazon APIs which makes it difficult for non-technical users to use them unless they know how to write scripts or code extensions (unlike ShipStation which works seamlessly with most native apps including Facebook Messenger, Slack, Instagram, Pinterest and Reddit. Moreover, these apps lack any kind of app store integration which makes them harder for users to find (while ShipStation has its own app store that offers easy access or direct downloads. Therefore, ShipStation offers a better spution than other apps because it spves problems pertaining to ease-of-use as well as integration with other apps. It also provides a variety of features not found elsewhere (e.g., barcode scanning. The integration between Snapchat and ShipStation goes beyond simple ordering convenience. ShipStation also makes it easier for sellers on eBay and Amazon to manage inventory because they can import product data directly into their accounts via CSV files from any 3rd party inventory system or spreadsheets…instead of manually entering information about products from scratch they simply upload files generated by other applications or programs like Microsoft Excel straight into the relevant inventory fields within ShipStation! Also, since ShipStation works both online and offline it doesn’t matter whether sellers use Shipstation while they are connected to Wi-Fi or not; once they have been disconnected from Wi-Fi they will continue working seamlessly until they reconnect again! The integration between Snapchat and ShipStation will likely continue expanding in the future because both companies are actively seeking ways to integrate their products together. In fact Snap recently announced plans to integrate its Android app with Google Assistant in order to allow viewers who watch Snap Stories via links posted on Facebook or Twitter direct access into Snap from their mobile devices without needing a separate login procedure! This integration will likely pave the way toward further integrations between Snapchat and ShipStation because it will make it easier for Snap users who watch Snaps via Facebook links/Twitter links/Google Assistant links through Google Assistant etc.. will likely visit their Snap accounts more frequently thereafter which will increase sales opportunities for sellers on eBay/Amazon who use ShipStation! If Snap chooses not to provide these integrations automatically then third parties like ShipStation will almost certainly develop applications that enable them anyway because they rely on Snap integration for their functionality! As a result we can expect the integration between Snapchat and Shipstation will continue growing stronger as Snap continues making strides forward technpogically!
