I will start with introducing SMTP by Connect. It is a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central add-in feature that allows the user to send an email in an e-commerce transaction. It supports multiple inbound and outbound email settings. The SMTP by Connect service provides the user with the ability to integrate the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with any email service provider. It can be used by either the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central end user or any Dynamics 365 administrator.

SMTP by Connect is used when sending emails in transactions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The user can send an email from their own email client, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or another email client. The user does not have to use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to send an email if they have access to the SMTP by Connect service. SMTP by Connect supports multiple inbound and outbound email settings. This allows the user to connect to any email service provider they want to use to send emails.
