Woodpecker.co is a free, simple and easy to use link shortener. You can use Woodpecker.co to shorten any URL, send it via email or embed it on a website.

Integration of Siteleaf and Woodpecker.co

Siteleaf users can integrate their existing site with Woodpecker.co in order to provide their visitors with a shortened URL. Siteleaf users can do this without leaving Siteleaf. Here is how it’s done.

The first step is to add Woodpecker.co as a service in Siteleaf. This can be done by clicking on “Settings” on the left hand side and then scrpling down to the “Integrations” section on the right hand side. Under this section, click on the “add integration” button.

A pop-up window will appear that enables you to choose from a number of services such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and so on. Click on “Woodpecker.co shortlinks service”.

Another pop-up window will appear for you to enter the details for your account on Woodpecker.co. The fields are pretty self-explanatory but here is a quick guide:

Site Name – The name of your site on Woodpecker.co. If you haven’t registered your site yet, then leave this section blank and proceed to the next section. You will need to register your site before integrating it with Siteleaf.

API Key – Your API key on Woodpecker.co which you can find on your dashboard on the right hand side of the screen. To get your API key on Woodpecker.co, click on “account settings” at the top right of the screen and then click on “api keys” under the “account settings” section on the left hand side of the screen.

Domain Name/URL – The domain or URL of your website on which you would like to display the URLs shortened by Woodpecker.co, e.g., www.example.com/blog/. If you have not registered the domain yet then leave this field blank and proceed to the next section below which describes how to register the domain itself. In this section, you will also have to choose whether you want to bind your short links to a subdomain or root domain and whether you want them to be visible or hidden for search engines.

Once you have entered all of these details, click on “create integration” to proceed with configuring your integration with Woodpecker.co. On the next page, you will see a list of all of your existing short links and their statistics such as views and clicks for each link, total length in characters and so on. You will also see an option at the bottom of this page called “create new short link” which you should click in order to add a new link to your list of links.

On this next page, fill in the details in the form including a description and a destination URL that you would like to shorten with Woodpecker.co and then click “Save” at the bottom of this page to save your new link. To see all of your new links, click on “links” at the bottom of this page on this same page and then choose whether you would like to view them alphabetically or by date created by clicking on either one of these options at the top of this page. In addition, you can also filter them by time remaining or number of characters that they are shorter than other links by selecting either one of these options from the dropdown menu at the top of this page as well.

In order to ensure that your links are being tracked correctly so that you can rely upon their statistics, we recommend adding tracking codes for Google Analytics and Matomo (formerly Piwik. For Google Analytics, copy and paste this code into every page where you would like to track your links:
