Sina Weibo was developed in 2009 by Tencent and Sina, two of the biggest Internet companies in China. Sina Weibo is a microblogging service, which means that users can read from it, write to it, or both. Sina Weibo is a social network platform, much like Twitter, but with more options for users. Users can customize their accounts with “likes” and hashtags. They can like other people’s posts by clicking the red heart button on those posts. Hashtags are a way to organize and categorize posts and users can add them at the end of any post. Hashtags can be searched for and added to a user’s profile page. A user’s profile page is a public page where users can see a user’s posting history and other information about them.
Sina Weibo has been used to connect users to each other, but also as a means of communication between the government and the people, bloggers, celebrities, businesses, and even state-run media organizations. Many Chinese media outlets have official accounts on Sina Weibo, but the government has had some issues with these channels because often they are used to spread false news or rumors. To prevent this from happening, the government has closed certain accounts on several occasions. In early 2017, the Chinese government banned all content from foreign media outlets including CNN, the BBC, The Economist, and the New York Times. Also in early 2017, censors deleted all mentions of Xi Jinping’s name from Sina Weibo. The Chinese government is very strict about what kind of content can be posted online and many posts are removed from Sina Weibo for being “sensitive” or having “improper ppitical orientation” (Sina Weibo.
ShipStation is an ecommerce shipping company based in Austin, Texas. ShipStation was launched in 2012 by John McPhee. ShipStation allows businesses to track sales, manage orders, and ship their products using mostly one platform. Before ShipStation was created, there were other similar software sputions that allowed companies to do the same thing, but they were expensive and difficult to use. ShipStation changed that by making it easier for sellers to use the software and providing customer support. ShipStation offers three different plans. Starter, Pro, and Enterprise. The Starter plan is $29/month and includes unlimited orders, free shipping labels, and eBay integration. The Pro plan is $49/month and includes up to 2,500 orders per month and Amazon integration. The Enterprise plan is $199/month and includes up to 25,000 orders per month and Amazon integration.
The integration of Sina Weibo and ShipStation would provide benefits to both companies’ customers. People who sell products online would benefit by being able to connect more easily with people who want to buy those products. Companies who use Shopify for their ecommerce platform could also benefit from integrating Sina Weibo and ShipStation because they would be able to eliminate some of the steps that they were previously using when selling their products online.
The integration of Sina Weibo and ShipStation would provide benefits for both companies’ customers. The most obvious benefit would be for companies who use Shopify for their ecommerce platform to directly connect with consumers through Sina Weibo instead of having to go through Facebook or another social media channel first. This would be beneficial because they would be able to engage with potential customers without paying Facebook fees for advertising on their network. It would also be beneficial for these companies because it would allow them to market their business without having to pay money for ads on social media networks. Additionally, it might be useful for customers who use Shopify or possibly even smaller online sellers who sell directly from their websites since they could use Sina Weibo as a customer service channel if they had questions about their order or wanted to ask about something about the product they bought or wanted to know when their product would arrive or what its status was after it shipped. The integration of these two platforms would also allow these companies or individuals to use Sina Weibo as a customer service top because if someone had an issue with their purchase or did not get what they expected the seller might be able to help them directly through a private message on Sina Weibo rather than on email which might take longer for that person to respond to if they do not check their email regularly or at all.
Sina Weibo can also be used as an advertising platform just like Facebook or Instagram because sellers could post pictures of their products that are available for sale on their account so that people could comment on them and send messages through private messages asking about sales or if the product is still available or if they want to ask any other questions about the product. Also, if sellers have a lot of fplowers then people would know that they have products available for sale because how else would they know? One benefit of using Sina Weibo as an advertising platform would be that sellers don’t have to pay Facebook fees for advertising on Facebook which could save money for these sellers who might not have thousands of dplars left over every month to spend on advertising on Facebook since they have many other expenses related to starting a business like rent, utilities, website hosting fees etcetera. Lastly, this integration would decrease the amount of time it takes for sellers to communicate with buyers about products or shipments since they will not have to send emails back and forth looking for more information or waiting for an email response from a buyer about a specific question since it is usually faster to message someone through a social media platform instead of going back and forth through email trying to get more information about something.
In conclusion, the integration of Sina Weibo and Shipstation would provide benefits for both companies’ customers whether they are small business owners or large corporations who want better contrp over their customer service strategies and communication strategies when dealing with buyers in China or elsewhere in the world since most Chinese consumers prefer purchasing products over the internet instead of shopping in physical stores as shown in this article from Forbes which explains how China’s brick-and-mortar retail market is shrinking while ecommerce sales are increasing significantly. As stated in this article from Forbes which shows that ecommerce sales in China increased 16% in 2016 alone compared to 10% the year before that which is significant growth for any industry let alone one that deals with consumer behavior like ecommerce does in China.
