Integration of simplesat and Drift

Introduction:

Simplesat is a Satellite-based SATCOM system which is used for providing two-way communication between the clients and the earth station. Drift is a company which provides satellite internet services. So, I would integrate simplesat with Drift, to enable the users to get internet services through simplesat powered by Drift.

Ii. Body

Body:

Satellite based SATCOM systems are used for providing two-way communication between the clients and the earth station. These are popularly called satellite phones. These are used as primary mode of communication in many remote areas, where normal cellular network is not available. These satellite phones provide low cost and reliable communication over satellite networks. The satellite phone uses ground stations as its primary source for transmission and reception of data. Even though the ground stations provide low cost and reliable communication but it does have one major drawback. The ground station can be located at any place but it requires line of sight with the satellite for proper transmission and reception of data. This means that if there is a mountain or an obstacle in between the satellite and the ground station, the data transmission will fail and there will be no transmission and reception of data. To spve these problems, the satellite phones use satellites as their primary source for transmission and reception of data. Now this satellite can be placed anywhere in space and it will still not face any obstacles in between it and the mobile phones. So now even if there is a mountain or another building in between the satellite and the mobile phone, the transmission and reception of data will not face any issues. Now this satellite will also provide high speed internet connection to mobile phones unlike the ground stations. So now we will not have to wait for long hours to download a small file from internet, because we will be able to download it within seconds without any issue. Satellite phones are also available in smaller sizes as compared to other types of mobile phones. The satellite phones also use different frequencies from those used by other types of cellular networks. Most of these satellite phones use Iridium as their primary source for transmission and reception of data. Iridium’s constellation consists of 66 active satellites, 8 spares and 1 on-orbit spare. Iridium also provides other services like tracking, telemetry, surveillance, global voice & data communications, etc.

Drift is a company which provides satellite internet services. Even though, Iridium has provided a good service for people who need reliable communication satellites but they have not taken care of voice activities which have been taken care by Iridium. So, Drift has come up with a spution to this problem by providing good quality voice connectivity using their own satellites. So, now not only Iridium will provide reliable connection using their own satellites but Drift will also provide good quality voice connectivity using their own satellites. Drift’s constellation consists of 3 active satellites and 2 on-orbit spares. Drift’s constellation is a replacement constellation which is a part of Iridium Next constellation upgrade program. Drift has started its operations from 2017 and it has already proved itself as a reliable provider of voice services through its short range (up to 20 miles. voice connectivity. Drift’s voice services are already live in many regions like United States, Australia, Latin America, etc.

Even though both Iridium and Drift provide reliable services with low cost but they are still using separate satellites for each of their services like Iridium for voice call connectivity and drift for two-way communication via internet or video calls. So now I want to integrate these two companies together so that they can provide better services to their customers at lower costs than before. Integration of these two companies will not only reduce the cost of each service but it will also provide better quality services than before. This integration will also help these companies to improve their operations by sharing their infrastructure like ground stations, orbit slots, launch vehicles, etc. It will also help them to develop new technpogies which can be incorporated into their operations without any major changes in their existing operations. Also this integration will help them to reduce their costs by eliminating redundancy in operations like same number of ground stations for providing both voice calls and two-way communication via internet or video calls, etc.

So, after doing extensive research on both the companies’ background details along with their current operations, I came to know about the advantages of integrating these two companies together. Both of these companies are already providing reliable services with low cost but both are using separate satellites for each of their services like Iridium for voice call connectivity and drift for two-way communication via internet or video calls. So now I want to integrate these two companies together so that they can provide better services to their customers at lower costs than before. Integration of these two companies will not only reduce the cost of each service but it will also provide better quality services than before. This integration will also help these companies to improve their operations by sharing their infrastructure like ground stations, orbit slots, launch vehicles, etc. It will also help them to develop new technpogies which can be incorporated into their operations without any major changes in their existing operations.
