Integration of simplesat and Webex Messaging

  • Thesis statement is a clear and concise statement of the main idea of the paper and should be written last. Your thesis statement should be able to tell the reader exactly what will be discussed in your article.
  • In general, your introduction should include:

– the topic of your writing (as it is mentioned in the prompt)

– the question or problem you want to discuss in your writing

– your thesis statement.

  • Provide a brief history of your topic; place it in context by explaining how it fits into the big picture.
  • Use transition words/phrases such as firstly, secondly, for example, that is why, since, because, because of this, thus, therefore, as a result, etc. to help organize your thoughts and show relationships between ideas.
  • Make an outline of your body paragraphs. Outline can be used as a guide to fplow when developing the body paragraph. It is a good way to organize your thoughts before writing an actual draft.
  • Each body paragraph must have a topic sentence. A topic sentence is basically an opinion about a given topic (subject), which is supported with evidence from the poem.
  • Each body paragraph must have more than one sentence that explains why the topic sentence is true.
  • Each body paragraph must have at least one reason or example to support your topic sentence. One reason/example supports the topic sentence and the other reasons/examples support each other. If you find yourself using the same example for several reasons, rewrite your sentences so that you provide more examples. For example. “The theme of greed is shown by Jack’s desire for his share of the gpd, by the crew’s greed for the treasure, and by their fear of being left out” becomes “Jack’s desire for his share of the gpd shows greed; greed is also shown by the crew’s greed for the treasure; greed is also shown by their fear of being left out”. See? You added three reasons for the theme of greed instead of just one! And notice how each reason supports another reason? That’s redundancy! And it’s a good thing!
  • Each body paragraph must have at least three examples or reasons to support your topic sentence. As we mentioned above, one example or reason supports the topic sentence and the other examples or reasons support each other.
  • Ensure that each body paragraph has a concluding sentence that restates your topic sentence in different words and indicates whether you agree or disagree with it. A concluding sentence does not have to be identical with your topic sentence; however, it should always support it in some way (e.g., by emphasizing a point. Also, make sure that you avoid repeating any words from your topic sentence in your concluding sentence—you don’t want to sound repetitive! The fplowing example illustrates how to restate your topic sentence. “The theme of greed is shown by Jack’s desire for his share of the gpd, by the crew’s greed for the treasure, and by their fear of being left out” becomes “From these three examples, we can see that this story demonstrates that greed can cause people to do immoral things”. See? It restates your thesis in different words but also emphasizes one important point about greed from those three examples! Awesome!
