Shippit operates in nine cities in the United States and will expand to six more in 2011. The company works with over 175 different shipping companies across the country.

"This is a huge milestone for Etsy," says CEO Chad Dickerson in a blog post on the site. "We've been looking forward to this day since we launched the Etsy Sell on Etsy program last December." This program enables its sellers to ship their items directly through the merchant-friendly shippers. Shoppers will be able to search for items spd by Etsy sellers and shipped directly from Shippit locations.

The integration of Shippit and Etsy will enable the former to benefit from the latter's sales and customer base. It will also allow sellers to select a local shipping option for their items. Shippit will also provide Amazon-style reviews from buyers.
