Integration of PostgreSQL and Salesforce

  • PostgreSQL is a powerful database which can be used for any application. It is developed by the PostgreSQL Global Development Group, which consists of a handful of software developers and support staff who are dedicated to the community in providing high-quality and robust products. The project has been under development since 1986. In 1996, the first official release of PostgreSQL was released. Then, it has been under continuous improvements ever since. Its source code is freely available under the PostgreSQL License and it is free to use. It is widely believed that PostgreSQL is the most advanced and reliable database management system today.
  • Salesforce is a customer relationship management platform that allows users to connect with their customers anytime and anywhere. It is designed to meet the needs of individuals, small businesses, enterprises, and nonprofits. It is said to be the world's most trusted CRM. It provides its users with a variety of tops such as analytics, cplaboration, mobile, social, and lead management. It is also known to be very user friendly.
  • Integration of PostgreSQL and Salesforce

Integration of PostgreSQL and Salesforce is done using an adapter called pgsql2sfdx. This adapter allows Salesforce to interact with PostgreSQL databases through standard SQL via JDBC. As a result, both applications can now work together to achieve desired results. The fplowing steps show how to enable pgsql2sfdx:

Step 1. Create a new instance on your Salesforce system. For this example, I will be creating an instance named "SF_POSTGRESQL".

Step 2. Enable pgsql2sfdx adapter on SF_POSTGRESQL instance. This step invpves deploying the pgsql2sfdx package on the instance and creating the connection pop.

Step 3. Create a new table and store data in it. For this example, I will be creating a table named "ContactTable" and adding two records to it.

Step 4. Use the "SELECT" statement on the "ContactTable" table.

Benefits of Integration of PostgreSQL and Salesforce

The integration of PostgreSQL and Salesforce will allow users to access their data from both applications without having to reenter data into one or another application. These two systems will be able to work together in order to deliver more functionalities and features that can benefit the organizations. Some of these benefits include:

    • Ability to work with unlimited amounts of data - Because PostgreSQL can handle unlimited amounts of data, this allows companies to store as much data as they want in a single database. Moreover, the fact that Salesforce does not have any limitations allows it to work with multiple databases simultaneously. This will significantly cut down costs as well as time spent on creating separate databases for each individual company that would otherwise have to create their own database.
    • Greater flexibility - Having a unified database system allows companies to choose whatever type of database they wish to use depending on their needs at any given time without having to worry about changing anything else in the system. It also allows companies to choose whatever storage format they wish to use because everything is stored in the same place. Moreover, companies do not have to worry about security threats because they have one centralized database containing all necessary data as well as processes in place to protect the system from possible security breaches.
    • Increased efficiency levels - With a unified database system, companies will no longer have to worry about performing frequent data imports and exports between systems because everything will already be present in one single system. This will save time which can then be used in other critical processes that need attention such as analyzing data or performing other tasks that require immediate action. Furthermore, there are no compatibility issues when using several different databases because everything is stored in one single database system regardless if it was created using a different database system or not.
