When companies merge, the employees are left to wonder what will happen. Will they keep their jobs? Will the company continue to thrive? How will it affect them? This was the case at PhoneBurner and Paddle when they merged on April 11, 2013. These two companies were both working toward a similar goal, but they had different ways of achieving it. With this merger, there were many questions that needed to be answered. Would the two companies continue to exist or would one take over the other? Who would lead the company? What would happen to the employees? When PhoneBurner and Paddle merged, the answers to those questions were found. The new company is called Paddle and has a great deal of potential for growth.
The integration of PhoneBurner and Paddle allowed for several benefits. The first benefit of the merger was that there was no longer a need for two separate companies. Having two separate companies may have made sense when each company was trying to accomplish its own goals, but after the merger it did not make sense to keep it so separate. When a business needs to cut costs and increase profits, having unnecessary expenses can be detrimental. By combining the two companies into one, unnecessary expenses could be avoided, which would help both companies in the long run. The second benefit of the merger was that it created a more familiar feel for customers of both companies. Both PhoneBurner and Paddle had similar customer bases before the merger. Customers of PhoneBurner were able to use Paddle for their internet services as well as phone service, while customers of Paddle were able to use PhoneBurner for their cell phone service and internet services. This allowed for customers to choose from a wider variety of options without having to switch providers entirely. This also allowed PhoneBurner and Paddle to use each other’s resources. Both PhoneBurner and Paddle have different strengths and weaknesses, so they could each be used in different situations. This integration also gave customers more options for their internet services. Some customers were not satisfied with their current internet provider and were looking for an alternative. With this merger, customers had access to both internet providers and could choose between them based on what would best fit their needs. A third benefit of the merger was that it brought all of the employees together under one roof of one building instead of two buildings across town from each other. For employees that commuted to work every day, this provided them with easy access to work and saved them money on gas. It also gave employees one central place where they could go for information instead of having to travel back and forth between two different locations every day. Also, by bringing everyone together in one building, it increased employee morale and provided a better workplace environment overall. Employees were always able to access their work without having to drive across town or wait until they got home or into an internet café. Because employees were in close proximity of each other, they could work together more easily than if they were spread out in two different locations. A fourth benefit was that it created a more streamlined process. When each company had different systems for doing business with clients, it became difficult to transfer calls or provide services to clients who already had purchased services from both companies. By merging the companies into one, there was only one system in place for dealing with clients in the future. This created a much smoother process for clients as well as for employees who had to deal with them on a daily basis.
By merging PhoneBurner and Paddle, both companies were able to reduce costs, increase revenue through sales on both sides, create a more familiar feel for customers, increase customer loyalty, avoid complications in dealing with clients by creating a streamlined process and finally give customers more options for their internet and phone services. These benefits made this merger very successful and beneficial for both companies as well as their clients and employees
