Paypal is an online payment service provider. It was founded by Peter Thiel, Max Levchin, Luke Nosek, and Ken Howery in 1999. PayPal is used by more than 100 million people in more than 200 countries in the world. PayPal’s services include the transfer of money in various currencies, payments for goods or services, person-to-person payments, business payments, and payment processing for merchants. PayPal will process the payment when the customer clicks on the “pay now” button. When the product is shipped, the buyer is required to pay for their order with a credit card or through an electronic transfer to their bank account. The seller will then have to ship the product to the buyer. The seller will be paid once the buyer has inspected the product and confirmed that it is in acceptable condition. PayPal is also integrated with Google Checkout which means that customers can pay for products with their PayPal balance or any number of other payment methods that are supported by Google.
Box is an online file sharing service that allows users to access files anywhere. Users can upload files to Box and share them with others using Box or with anyone using a web browser. Box allows users to share files up to 2GB in size by emailing a link to the file rather than sending the entire file. According to Box, its users are able to store an unlimited amount of files, although the free accounts are limited to two GB of storage. Box offers mobile applications for iOS and Android devices and mobile web applications for mobile browsers such as Opera Mobile and Internet Explorer Mobile. It also offers a client software package based on Java, which can be deployed on Windows or Linux systems and provides integration with Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange Server for enterprise deployments.
PayPal and Box both provide cloud storage services. They should integrate together so that users could directly store files into their cloud storage from other application such as word processor or even email application. For example, if a user wanted to attach a file to an email, instead of attaching the file to the email, they would use the Paypal and Box integration and it would automatically upload the file for them and make it accessible from the cloud storage. This would allow users to access files from any device no matter where they were. For example, if a user wanted to send a picture to another user such as parent’s house, they could send an email with a link to the image stored in their cloud storage account rather than sending the entire image attachment which would use bandwidth and take up space on their email server. This way, they would not need to worry about exceeding their email quota or spending tons of time uploading a large file attachment. Also, if a user wanted to share a large file such as a PowerPoint presentation with a cpleague at work, they could do this without having to worry about email size limits. This also could save them money by not having to purchase extra storage space from their ISP to hpd all of their large file attachments because they could just store them in their cloud storage account. In addition, if a user was trying to present a deck to a group of potential investors they could have people who couldn’t attend to watch it from remote locations via their computer or mobile device. This would allow them to view the presentation without having to wait until they go back home and send it over their network connection or download it from a data plan on their mobile device. This way, they wouldn’t have to worry about downloading a large video over their limited bandwidth connection or waiting until they got back home before they could see what everyone else saw during the meeting because all of the videos would be stored in their cloud storage account at all times.
In addition to providing better features for users, integrating Paypal and Box would allow them to compete with companies such as Apple which offer Cloud Storage sputions on their devices such as iCloud. Apple provides many enterprise level features that Paypal and Box do not support such as automatic photo uploading through apps like iPhoto, music playing through apps like iTunes Music Library, video streaming through apps like Netflix, etc. By implementing similar features into their storage sputions, Paypal and Box would be able to compete against Apple head on by offering businesses features that Apple does not offer such as business security features like encryption on all files stored on their servers. Paypal already has these features implemented but Box does not yet support them yet which makes this integration necessary for both companies. This would give them better adoption by businesses that want these extra security features that Apple does not provide because it does not sell hardware but only software sputions. Overall, this integration would give both of these companies better adoption rates by users of all types who want secure data storage sputions no matter where they are accessing them from.
