Paypal is a payment gateway that allows users to accept payments through their website. AWeber is an email marketing service that allows users to send emails to their subscribers and to create autoresponders. Many people use both these services and there are many people who would like to integrate these services into one single account, but they can’t. They want Paypal to automatically add their customers to an AWeber list, or they want to use AWeber’s autoresponder feature and have it automatically add customers to a Paypal list. There are currently several third-party apps that allow this integration, but none of them are free and most of them don’t work well. If these two services were integrated, this would be much easier and more convenient for users.
The first thing that would need to happen for this integration is for Paypal to create an API (application programming interface. The API would allow developers to create applications that interact with Paypal. This would eliminate the need for third party apps and users could just login to Paypal and see all the available integrations, including the integration with AWeber. The API would also allow Paypal to include their own integrations so that the user doesn’t need to even think about which apps they want to use. For example, if a user wanted to add an autoresponder to their Paypal account, they would just go to the “Integrations” section of their account and check the “AWeber” box. Then, when users make a payment through Paypal, their information would automatically be added to the AWeber list. If a user wanted to add someone’s email address from the Paypal payment page, they would just click on the email address and choose “Add to List” from a drop down list. Then, once again, when the customer makes a payment through Paypal, their information would automatically be added to the user’s AWeber list.
The second thing that would need to happen for this integration is for AWeber to create an API. The API would allow developers to create applications that interact with AWeber. This would eliminate the need for third party apps (like Zapier. and users could just login to AWeber and see all the available integrations, including the integration with Paypal. The API would also allow AWeber to include their own integrations so that the user doesn’t need to even think about which apps they want to use. For example, if a user wanted to add Paypal as a payment option, they would just go to the “Integrations” section of their account and check the “Paypal” box. Then, whenever someone made a payment through AWeber, their information would automatically be added to their Paypal list. If a user wanted to add someone’s email address from an Aweber list, they would just click on the email address and choose “Add as Contact” from a drop down list. Then, whenever someone made a payment through Paypal, their information would automatically be added to the user’s AWeber list. This way, users wouldn’t even have to think about whether they wanted their customers logged in or not in order to subscribe them to their lists, sales pages, etc. They could do everything right in one place and in one app!
Integration between these two platforms is long overdue and has been requested by users for years. Now that PayPal has merged with Braintree and seems more open than ever before, it should be easy for them to create an API for developers. When it comes time for either company to create an API for developers, I hope that they will do it sooner rather than later because it would really benefit everyone invpved!
