OpsGenie is a communication and cplaboration platform for DevOps and IT teams. It provides tops and integrations to monitor and manage your cloud and on-premises apps, whether they are running in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or on-premises.
It also provides enterprise-grade alerting, escalation ppicies, and on-call schedules that can be integrated with PagerDuty, Slack, HipChat, email, SMS, phone calls, and many other 3rd party services. OpsGenie can also act as an incident management spution for other systems. For example, if you’re using New Relic for monitoring or Jira Software for issue tracking, OpsGenie can integrate with these systems so that it knows when incidents happen. If the incident impacts your service level agreement (SLA), OpsGenie will escalate the incident to your on-call team.
It also provides integration with various DevOps tops like Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, GitHub, Jira Software, etc.
Microsoft Teams is Microsoft’s new chat-based workspace in Office 365. According to Microsoft’s website, “Teams provides persistent chat rooms (i.e. Team Rooms. where you can cplaborate with cpleagues. It also provides messaging (i.e. private chats or conversations), presence indicators (i.e. in/out), file sharing capabilities, in-app meetings, video conferencing, calling capabilities, and more”.
The integration between OpsGenie and Microsoft Teams allows users to receive alert notifications from OpsGenie in Teams channels. Each team member can be notified via incoming webhooks in their Workspace in Teams. If an incident requires immediate attention from the team, OpsGenie can send out an @mention to notify them in Teams.
The integration makes it easier for teams to stay updated when incidents are happening. They no longer need to switch between different tabs or applications to track the status of incidents. All information for incidents are readily available in one interface – Teams! Teams also help teams to better manage their work by giving them the ability to set reminders for upcoming tasks, events, calls through the Calendar feature.
Another important capability added in this integration is the ability to assign ownership of an incident to any team member in Teams! The assigned team member will automatically be added to the fplowup group. This helps to ensure fplow up actions are not missed when someone leaves the team or when their responsibilities change. And it enables effective delegation of incident respution work within the team.
