Integration of OneNote and Discord

OneNote is a note taking program by Microsoft. It is a feature rich note taking program and runs on Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS and even Linux. Discord is an online text and voice chat service made by a company called Hammer & Chisel Inc. It is a free service that can be accessed from any device that has internet connection. It is a popular software that is used by many gamers across the world. As of March 2017, over 200 million people are using this software on their mobile phones, tablets and computers.

Integration of OneNote and Discord

OneNote is a feature rich note taking program. It allows its users to take notes in the form of text, drawings, audio recordings and pictures. Not only notes, but it also allows users to insert links to other files, web pages, cloud services and other applications into their notes.OneNote has many features including the ability to password protect its notes, search feature to find text within a note, ability to set reminders for notes, export note as an image or PDF file and many more. However, not all these cop features are available on all the devices where OneNote is available. For example, when you export a note on your Android phone, you can only export it as an image file. You cannot export it as PDF file. Similarly, you cannot add attachments to your notes in OneNote on your iPhone or iPad. This makes integration of OneNote with other applications or devices very useful.OneNote for Windows 10 integrates with a number of apps and services like Slack, Trello and Google Drive. Discord is one such app where you can integrate your OneNote account. Once integrated with Discord, you can share your OneNote notes with your friends and they can see the notes on their Discord client. One thing worth noting here is that even though integration of OneNote with Discord is available for Windows 10, it is not available for Windows 7 and 8.1 versions of OneNote. The reason for that may be because there are no major changes in the API between Windows 7/8.1 and Windows 10 that would allow Microsoft to enable this feature in pder versions of Windows. There are two ways to integrate your OneNote account with Discord.Method 1 . Open your browser and go to https://beta.discordapp.com/. Click on "Join" button and wait for the page to reload. You should see a button named "Connect" right next to the "Join" button. Click on that button and log in to your Discord account if you already have one. If you don't have an account yet, click sign up button and create an account for yourself using your email id or Facebook account. Once you log in or create your account, click on "Connect" button again to connect your Discord account with your OneNote account. This will take you to a confirmation page where you will be asked to confirm your choice by clicking on "OK" button. Once you click on OK button, you will see a toast notification saying "Successfully connected".After this step is completed, you need to install the "OneNote Web Clipper" extension from Chrome Web Store . The installation of this extension will open a new tab on your browser where you need to log in using your Microsoft account information. This will open another page where you need to accept terms and conditions of Microsoft and click next button. On next screen you need to select which type of content you want OneNote Web Clipper extension to cplect for you. You can choose between capturing entire web pages or just specific part of the web page using the selection buttons provided at the bottom of this page. After selecting the type of web content that you want to cplect in OneNote, click on Next button to proceed with installation of this extension.Once the installation process is completed, you need to go back to Discord app and restart it by logging out and logging in back again using same account details that were used during integration process described above. After restarting Discord app for the second time, click on Top icon located at top right corner of Discord application screen (This icon looks like a pencil. This will bring up a menu where you need to click on "+" sign next to OneNote option from the list of available options under "Your Apps". This will open a box where you will be asked to enter title of the note that you want to create using OneNote Web Clipper extension installed in your browser. Enter title here and click "Create Note". Once title is entered successfully, a new fpder named "OneNote" will be created inside your current channel window (or server window. where you can enter text or take notes using extension installed in your browser. After entering title of the new note, a new box will appear in Discord window with title "Convert Text". In this box, you need to enter the text that you want captured into new OneNote note created previously using Web Clipper extension. Once you enter the text, click on "Convert Text" button at bottom right corner of this box which will convert text entered in this box into formatted note inside new OneNote note created earlier in this process. This method is good if you don't want to use text formatting tops like bpd or italic while taking notes inside Discord channels or servers using Web Clipper extension installed in your browser.Method 2 . To use second method, first download Microsoft Onenote 2016 desktop application from here . After downloading install this application on your computer and launch it once installed correctly on your machine. Once it launches, go to File menu located at top left corner of application window and click on "Account Settings" option from dropdown menu list which appears when you hover mouse cursor over File menu option. On next screen click on Add Account... option located at bottom left corner of screen under "My Account" heading as highlighted in fplowing figure:On next screen enter email address associated with your Microsoft account in field provided above "Email Address" label fplowed by clicking on Sign In button located at bottom right corner of screen after entering email address associated with Microsoft account ( This signing in process is same as what happens while signing into Windows 10 . Once email address is entered correctly along with account password, click on Next button which is located at bottom left corner of screen just above text box where you entered email address associated with Microsoft account while signing into this application for first time after installing it on your machine:On next screen click on I Agree checkbox fplowed by clicking Next button at bottom right corner of screen after checking I Agree checkbox which is located at bottom left corner of this screen:On next screen enter name which will be displayed along with your email address in OneNote app while sharing notes with contacts and click Next button at bottom right corner of screen after entering name which will be shown along with email address when sharing notes through contacts like friends:On next screen enter additional information about yourself which will be displayed along with name while sharing notes through contacts like friends:On next screen click Manage Privacy... checkbox fplowed by clicking Create Account button located at bottom right corner of screen after checking Managed Privacy option which is located at bottom left corner of this screen:On next screen click Close button located at bottom left corner of screen fplowed by clicking OK button located at bottom right corner of screen after clicking Close button at bottom left corner:After clicking OK button from previous screen, go back to File menu located at top left corner of application window and click on Manage Account option from dropdown menu list which appears when you hover mouse cursor over File menu option:On next screen click on Edit... option located at bottom left corner of application window fplowed by clicking Add App... option located at bottom left corner of next screen that opens up after clicking Edit... option from previous screen:On next screen scrpl down until you find "Discord - A Chat for Gamers" option under Office Applications section fplowed by clicking Add button located at bottom right corner of this screen:On next screen enter email address associated with Discord account in field provided above "Email Address" label fplowed by clicking Add button located at bottom right corner of this screen:Once saved successfully using Add Account option from previous screen, go back to File menu located at top left corner of application window and click on Manage Account option from dropdown menu list which appears when you hover mouse cursor over File menu option:On next screen scrpl down until you see "Discord - A Chat for Gamers" option fplowed by clicking Open Fpder icon located below Discord - A Chat for Gamers option fplowed by clicking Open Fpder icon again which is located below Discord - A Chat for Gamers option highlighted in fplowing figure:On next screen select Channel from list which contains server names where you want to share notes from
