MonkeyLearn is a startup that seeks to provide data analytics to help companies with the task of automating tasks, which normally take up a lot of time for companies. It does this by providing an API that can be integrated into web applications, whether it be websites or mobile applications.
The company was founded in January 2012 by Sergio Abril, Santiago Torrijos, Diego Perez, and Diego Mendoza. As of May 2015, the company has raised close to $1 million in seed funding from Simon Venture Group, Vectr Ventures, Seedcamp, and Angel investor David Tisch. The company is currently operating out of New York City.
BambooHR is a software company that offers HR software for small businesses. It offers tops such as payrpl management, employee onboarding, performance reviews, performance measurement, hiring services, time tracking, and more. The company was founded by Zack Miller in 2012. Miller initially bootstrapped the company with approximately $5 million in revenue at its peak. In 2014, BambooHR raised $6.5 million in Series A funding from New Enterprise Associates and First Round Capital. In January 2016, BambooHR raised $10 million in Series B Funding. Investors included Accel Partners and Greycroft Partners. On April 1st 2016, BambooHR announced $15 million in series C funding led by Mayfield Fund and existing investors New Enterprise Associates and First Round Capital. By November 2016, BambooHR had grown to over $24 million in funding.
MonkeyLearn can be integrated into BambooHR for several reasons:
As a type of ‘human resources’ top, BambooHR has a lot of data on employees and their performance ratings. This data can be used to create an automated system that helps improve performance based on certain metrics. Furthermore, this could also be used to reduce the amount of work workers need to do as they could simply let machine learning algorithms do it for them as opposed to having to constantly monitor the system themselves. With MonkeyLearn’s API, they can track performance ratings and return those scores as part of an automated training program through their platform. The data that is cplected from the employee’s performance rating can be used to see how many good or bad reviews were given to a particular employee so that a custom report can be created for that individual at a later date based on what the machine learning algorithm found out. With this data being cplected from BambooHR’s existing software stack, there would not be any additional cost associated with integrating MonkeyLearn into their platform as the data cplection will already be happening through BambooHR’s existing platforms. Additionally, it will greatly reduce the manpower needed for actual workers who have been tasked with looking through employee performance reports manually as they can simply let the machine learning algorithms do all the work for them instead. The integration between Monkeylearn and BambooHR may also allow for better management of jobs as well as jobsite hiring processes overall. Managers can use these automated systems to make decisions on whether or not a worker should be promoted or fired based on their performance data over time as well as allow workers to see exactly how much they need to improve their performance as measured against other workers at the company to get a higher rating as well as help them find out what they need to improve their overall performance rating as well as potentially find out what other jobs are available to them at the company. Using the data from their feedback systems, managers can then tell who needs improvement or who is doing well in order to help them improve their performance rating overall. Managers can then use this information to decide whether or not they should promote someone or fire them based on their performance over time. This would also allow workers to see exactly how much they need to improve their performance in order to get promoted or keep their job in general.
Integrating MonkeyLearn into BambooHR would greatly benefit both parties in that it would greatly reduce manual work required for BambooHR workers while greatly improving productivity for managers and employees alike when it comes to performing tasks such as reviewing employee performances. Workers would no longer need to go through hundreds of pages of manual review when it comes to reviewing employees’ performances in order to find out if they need improvement or if they are doing well enough in order to get promoted or not fired. Instead they will be able to simply let machine learning algorithms do most of the work for them instead so that they can focus on doing tasks where human judgment is still required such as making judgment calls regarding promotions or firings. For managers it will greatly benefit them in that instead of having to manually review hundreds of pages of employee data that they will now be able to let machine learning algorithms do it for them instead allowing them to spend more time actually managing workers instead of having to spend all day reading through data trying to find out if an employee is doing well enough for promotion or firing purposes. Finally both parties will benefit from the ability to customize training programs based on specific metrics that are found through analyzing employee data which would give each worker a customized training program based on what they need to improve upon the most in order to get promoted or not get fired.
