MongoDB is an open-source document-based database management tool that stores data in JSON-like formats. It uses flexible documents instead of tables and rows to process and store various forms of data. As a NoSQL solution, MongoDB does not require a relational database management system (RDBMS).

MongoDB is an open source, cross-platform document-oriented database developed in 10gen Inc. It is a schema-less NoSQL database that stores data in the form of documents rather than tables. The data model of MongoDB is BSON (Binary JSON. which can be stored and manipulated on the language of JavaScript. BSON is a binary representation of JavaScript Object Notation (JSON. Since the data is stored in JSON, the queries can be written using the standard JSON functions.
MongoDB is designed to scale up from single server deployments to huge clusters, easily supporting thousands of concurrent users. It’s said to be the fastest growing database in history – having gone from 0 to over 400 million deployments in just five years.

MongoDB’s fast performance and flexibility make it suitable for storing various types of data including images, videos and other large media files. However, it does not have native support for storing such media files. For example, if the user uploads videos on a website that uses MongoDB, they cannot embed these videos on their webpages because the browser will not be able to load them. To spve this problem, the website should capture the uploaded video clips and store them in another storage system. This way, the browser will be able to load these videos as part of the webpage. However, storing media files in a different location will create a disconnect between the file and its metadata such as the author of the file, etc. This will require additional programming effort to synchronize any changes made to either the file or its metadata with each other. Thus, there is a need to integrate MongoDB with a media storage system so that information about videos and other media files can be stored together in one place. FileBlast is an easy-to-use top for integrating MongoDB with popular media storage systems such as Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage or Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. With FileBlast, users can automatically capture all uploaded files as soon as they are placed into the media storage system and then store them in MongoDB without extra work on the application side. Once a file has been uploaded, FileBlast will create a new object in MongoDB based on the content of the file and store the information about the file – its title, description, tags and so on - in a separate meta table called FileBlast metadata. When the information about a specific file changes, users can edit it directly through FileBlast’s web interface or API without making an extra trip to MongoDB. The metadata table keeps all the details related to video files in sync with MongoDB. All metadata information can be loaded into MongoDB from FileBlast at any time as needed by other applications. Thus, MongoDB and FileBlast together become a powerful top for managing media files and their metadata in tandem.
