Asset Panda is a software company that develops and markets products for the construction and real estate industries. They provide a cloud-based BIM model repository and an integrated project delivery platform.

II.A. Integration of MongoDB and Asset Panda

Benefits:

One of the main advantages of assetchains is the possibility of modeling data in a very flexible way. There are no predefined data types such as strings, dates or bopeans; you can even create your own if needed! However, once you need to store this information, there is no easy way to query it because it isn’t stored in a traditional relational database (like SQL. Fortunately, you can store your assetchains in a MongoDB, which allows for easy querying and flexible data modeling.

Asset Panda offers two products. Asset Panda Cloud and Asset Panda Studio. Asset Panda Cloud is their BIM Management platform that helps architects, engineers, contractors, and clients track projects from inception to completion. Asset Panda Studio is their BIM Modeling top that allows users to build models of buildings electronically with complete CAD interoperability. For both of these products, Asset Panda uses MongoDB as their primary data store. By using MongoDB to store assetchains, they are able to leverage its flexible data modeling features to help their customers model their data accurately. If there was an easier way to query the data, they could also use it for searching on attributes, but since queries are relatively simple, they don’t need to go that far. With MongoDB, they are able to quickly load large amounts of data into the system, allowing the software to work efficiently. This is especially important for asset management since there are many things that need to be tracked about each asset throughout its lifecycle. Any time saved by not having to load the data means more time can be spent on development or business improvement!

Challenges:

The largest challenge of integrating MongoDB with Asset Panda is making sure that the data is accurate. Because it isn’t stored in a traditional relational database, there is risk of losing information if there is a bug in the code. It is also very difficult to figure out what is wrong if something goes wrong, so it is essential to implement automated testing across all code changes so that any bugs will be found immediately. Finally, if errors do occur, it can be incredibly difficult to diagnose them due to the fact that there is no schema for the data being stored. It will therefore be crucial to ensure that the code is written with error handling techniques in mind so that they can figure out exactly where the errors are coming from when they occur.
