Miro is a way to watch web videos, and Wave is a way to read and annotate any document. In this article, I will describe how these two applications could be integrated in a seamless manner. I will also discuss potential benefits to the users of such an integration.
The idea would be that Miro, when playing a video, could display a small annotation window at the bottom-right corner of the video player screen. This small window would display the current Q&A from the document associated with the video. The viewer could then click on an answer by using the mouse. If the answer was correct, it would be highlighted by the application and the user could continue watching the video (or if incorrect, could replay the video from that point.
If the user wanted to answer another question, he or she could click on the “Next Question” link, which would open up a new small window containing another question. The user could answer it and hit Next Question again for another question. The user may also click on the “Show all questions” link to see all questions at once. If the user wanted to see more information about a particular question, he or she could click on the question number to open up a small window with more information about that question. The user may also click on the Answer link to go back to the main player screen from where he or she can resume viewing the video.
Wave could also display a small window in the upper-right corner of every page. This small window would display the context of a particular section of text based on the passage that is being viewed at that time. The user could click on any word in order to display its definition. Clicking on a word would also cause its definition to be highlighted in yellow.
The integration of Miro and Wave would be beneficial in several ways for users who are reading or watching web content because it would provide them with additional information about what they are reading or watching. It would also allow them to skip directly to different parts of the document and avoid having to go back and forth between different documents (for instance, if you want to skip down to a different question within a document.
