On April 3, 2012, the free internet television service Miro was shut down after being released for only a year. Miro was designed as a replacement for TV by offering thousands of channels on its website. It was developed by the non-profit organization Peer-to-peer video project Miro Corporation. The service was developed by an independent programmer named Josh Jones and released in 2008. In April 2012, Miro closed its doors due to financial issues. In February 2012, it was announced that Miro would be shutting down due to a lack of funding. Before closing its doors, Miro developed a new version called Flock. Flock is said to be an improved version of Miro.
Flock is a browser based application that allows users to watch both live and on-demand content from around the world. It also provides access to news, free music, and other entertainment and information sources. Flock also includes a social network feature that allows users to share their favorite sites with friends and family. Flock is now an open source operating system for desktop computers. This OS is available free of charge for anyone who wishes to use it. Subscribers must pay a fee of $25 per year to use the service. There are no limits to the amount of time you can use the service, so long as you continue paying your yearly fee. However, if you do not pay your monthly subscription, your account will be suspended and you will need to start over when you are ready to pay again.
The benefits of integration between these two services include:
3)Maintains an open source code base so that all users have access to all features of the applications. This allows developer feedback and analysis so that Flock users can get the best experience possible from the program
5)Allows users to watch movies and series from dozens of different countries in their native language. Users can also learn about culture, history, and languages through watching foreign films and series.
While it is true that few people know about Flock, much less use it, this does not mean that it is not a valuable top for those who do have an interest in it. I believe that Flock is a huge improvement over Miro. However, there is still room for improvement as many users have noticed some bugs in the program. When these bugs are fixed, Flock will be even better than it already is. For those who wish to access the free internet content that Miro provided before it shut down, they now have an option to do so with a more stable platform. Hopefully Flock will continue to grow and improve over time as well as gain recognition among internet viewers worldwide.
