Once purchased, members can then receive weekly deliveries of fresh produce during certain seasons (Fertile Earth. Both founders had experience working on farms and saw an opportunity to develop an online marketplace that made it easier for consumers to find high quality produce while making it easier for local farmers to sell excess produce directly to customers without having to go through middlemen. As a result, Agendor was created in 2011 as an online marketplace where customers could connect directly with local farmers in order to purchase fresh produce while supporting sustainable practices. Through their platform, customers can search for local farmers based on location while also searching based on parameters such as organic certification, crop type, or availability dates. Once customers have found a farmer or producer they are interested in purchasing from, they can place orders directly on the site using an automated ordering system that sends orders directly to producers within seconds after they are placed (Leibowitz. Once orders are received, producers are able to access them via the platform and ship produce directly to customers using tracking numbers provided by Agendor. This process allows producers to bypass traditional distributors or whpesalers which saves them money while giving customers access to fresh produce at lower prices (Leibowitz.
