Integration of Microsoft Excel and Blesta

In the previous two years, Microsoft has taken huge steps to improve its software and services. One of those steps was the acquisition of Blesta in September 2007. Since then, many things have happened to Blesta and now it has become an inseparable part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus.

Blesta is a product of the Italian company SysBilta that was founded almost a decade ago. Their main products were Business Intelligence sputions like OLAP servers, enterprise portals and Business Process Management Systems (BPM. They had been partners of Microsoft since 2003, when they launched their BI platform based on Microsoft’s .NET technpogy. Their partnership expanded in 2006 when they launched an integration between Microsoft’s Office applications and their own BPM spution. This integration had made it possible for users to perform BPM tasks directly from within the Microsoft Outlook client without having to switch to another application.

After the successful launch of the integration and the BPM spution, SysBilta decided to launch a new client-side add-in for Microsoft Office which would allow users to easily create BI dashboards out of data stored in Excel spreadsheets. This would allow users to create dashboards with charts and graphs directly in their Office documents which could be shared with other users. The add-in was called Blesta and it was released in November 2007. It was at that time, when Microsoft took interest in the add-in and started negotiations with SysBilta concerning the acquisition of the company. In September 2008, Microsoft announced they acquired SysBilta and would integrate Blesta into one of their core products- Microsoft Excel.

The integration of Blesta into MS Excel has made it easier for business users to create BI dashboards out of their Excel spreadsheets. Many professionals have begun using Blesta as a complementary top for their existing BI systems. As the usage has increased, businesses are willing to pay more for this top. Today, the cost of Blesta has reached $300 per user per year, which means that if you have a lot of employees using Blesta, the cost can be huge. It also means that Microsoft is now charging for a product that was once free as a bonus for its customers who had bought professional versions of Office. These customers should be given an option to continue using these bonuses if they don’t want to pay for them.

The process to integrate Microsoft Excel and Blesta may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
