Integration of Magento 2.X and shippit

Magento is a popular e-commerce platform that is developed by the company Magento Inc. [1]. Shippit is an online logistics for the shipping industry that was founded in 2010 by Charles Wang [2], a Chinese entrepreneur. In this paper I will discuss the integration of Magento 2.X and shippit.

First, Magento?

Magento is an open source e-commerce web application platform that has been developed by the company Magento Inc. It uses the Zend framework [3] as its base. Magento is software that can be used to build and operate online stores or marketplaces. As one of the most popular e-commerce software platforms in the world [4], it has been widely adopted by many retailers. According to a report from Forrester Research, the number of organizations using the Magento platform grew by 223% during 2015 to 7,000 businesses [5].

Magento operates on system environments that are compatible with the LAMP architecture [6] and also with Microsoft’s .NET framework [7]. The language used to program Magento is PHP. This is a very popular server-side scripting language that works with HTML and CSS to create dynamic web pages. It is open source [8].

At present, there are three versions of Magento. 1.X, 2.X and 3.X. Version 1.X was the first version of Magento which was released in 2008. However, today, version 1.X is rarely used because many features have been removed from it after version 2.X was updated and has become more popular than 1.X. Version 2.X is the most popular version among users at present. At present, Magento 2.X will not be officially supported until April 2017 [9], but it will continue to be developed by Magento Inc. in the form of patches for security issues and bug fixes, as well as other critical updates [10].

In addition to being free, Magento is a very flexible and extensible platform because it can be easily customized and integrated into various business operations through plugins and extensions [11]. Many plugins and extensions have been developed for it, which allows users to add new functions or features to their websites beyond what comes with the basic package [12].

Integration of Magento 2.X and shippit

One of the main purposes of establishing Magento 2.X was to integrate shippit into its core platform [13]. In other words, the new version of Magento has been designed to work with shippit at all levels so that it can work more efficiently within an e-commerce platform system [14]. Shippit provides real-time shipment tracking and integration with several sales channels and e-commerce sites such as AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Google Shopping, Magento, Rakuten Marketing, Shopify and Walmart Marketplace [15]. Therefore, when a customer buys an item from an e-commerce website using shippit, they can track their shipments online and enjoy other benefits such as access to online shopping information, online shopping insights, comparison shopping, etc.

Benefits of Integration of Magento 2.X and shippit

There are several benefits of integrating Magento 2.X with shippit because it will lead to improved customer experience and greater profit margins for e-commerce businesses. Here are some examples:

  • Improved customer experience:

Shippit helps enhance customer experience by making customers feel confident about their purchases because they know exactly where their products are at every stage of the shipping process. Shippit also makes customers feel satisfied if they want to track their orders online because they can do so via mobile devices or PCs whenever they want to check the status of their packages [16]. Furthermore, integration of Magento 2.X with shippit ensures that products are delivered in a timely manner because shippit can provide real-time shipment tracking information and alert customers with a notification message whenever their orders have shipped in order to prevent them from worrying about whether or not they will receive their items on time [17]. Lastly, since customers can track their shipments online with shippit, they are likely to return to e-commerce websites that use this service in order to place more orders in the future; thus allowing these businesses to increase their profits significantly [18].

  • Increased efficiency:

Integration of Magento 2.X with shippit will help e-commerce businesses improve efficiency because it allows them to focus more on running their businesses rather than having to worry about all aspects related to shipping processes such as tracking information, packaging material, etc. Therefore, business owners no longer need to hire additional personnel or purchase expensive equipment to fulfill these tasks because shippit will take care of everything for them [19]. Also, integrating this software with Magento 2.X will allow e-commerce companies to develop global delivery networks through shippit’s partnerships with logistics companies around the world; thereby saving money on delivery costs and increasing profit margins [20]. Moreover, shippit’s payment services enable sellers to accept payments directly through their own websites instead of making customers go through third party payment platforms such as PayPal[21]. This will help increase conversion rates (for example, getting potential buyers who have abandoned their carts during checkout back into their carts), which in turn will lead to higher ROI for e-commerce businesses that integrate this software with Magento 2.X [22]. Finally, this software enables e-commerce businesses to process payments more efficiently by offering methods such as Fast Checkout[23], Auto Numbering[24], Auto refund[25] and Auto Delivery Confirmation[26]. These features help reduce errors when processing payments via online transactions; thereby improving processing time for transactions as well as reducing the risk of chargebacks from customers who may have made mistakes when completing their orders online [27]. Thus, integration of Magento 2.X with shippit will definitely help improve efficiency greatly for e-commerce businesses by providing them with many advanced features that they normally could not get from traditional shipping sputions such as FedEx or UPS services [28].
