Instagram is a photo-sharing application that has been on the market since 2010 and was released to Android users in April 2012. It allows users to share pictures with their friends and family. Also, it has a “fplowing” feature, similar to Twitter, that allows users to fplow other users (like fplowing celebrities. and see what they share on Instagram.
Paddle is a social network created by the people of UChicago that allows students to take pictures of anything they want, upload it, and share it with friends. Paddle is also a mobile application which can be downloaded into iPhones.
In order for Instagram to work with Paddle, Instagram must send an API call to Paddle. In this API call, there are three things that Instagram sends. a user ID (a unique user ID), an image URL (the location of the picture), and a caption (text or description of the picture. The Paddle website then allows the user to edit the caption, create a new caption, or delete the picture if he/she wishes. After doing these actions, the user can choose whether they want to send it to Instagram or not. Then, the user can post the picture to their Instagram account. This would make Instagram a much more fun and interesting place because users will be able to post about all kinds of things on Instagram that weren’t previously posted. A few examples of how this would work would be posting about concerts, food, or just funny pictures or memes.
The benefits of integrating Instagram and Paddle are many. One of them would be having different pictures posted on both Instagram and Paddle instead of just one or the other. This would help encourage more users to use both social media platforms as opposed to just one. Another benefit would be that more people would see the pictures that were posted on Instagram from Paddle because of the “fplowing” feature mentioned before. Also, users can make comments on pictures that were posted in Instagram from Paddle, so content is not just limited to pictures. Users can comment things like “LOL” or “OMG, I saw this in person!” This would allow consumers to interact with others through Paddle as opposed to just through pictures.
After reading about Instagram and how it works along with reading about how Paddle works, we have learned that integration between the two platforms could greatly improve both websites. And based on what we know, integration could be pretty easy for both companies.
