Instagram is currently the largest mobile-based social network in the world. It has more than 800 million users.

MonkeyLearn is an intelligent text analysis API that helps you extract insights from texts, images, websites, and emails. To do so, it uses machine learning algorithms which are trained by the community to recognize patterns in language. With MonkeyLearn you can easily perform sentiment analysis, topic analysis, keyword extraction, age and gender detection. You can also create custom classifiers to automate your own analysis.

Integration of Instagram and Monkey Learn

There are many applications of using Instagram to conduct text-based analysis. For example, you can automatically analyze the content of the pictures that your fplowers post on their profiles. Or you can create an automated bot that replies to all messages posted on your account. The possibilities are endless!

Let’s get started! Click on “Classify Text” on the main page of the API and then click on “Post text” in the next step:

In the third step, type a short description of what you want to classify in your text into the “Description box”:

In step four, copy/paste your text into the “Inputs box”:

In step five, specify whether you want to extract one specific category from your text or multiple categories:

In step six, select the categories that you want to extract from your text:

In step seven, type in a name for your model in order to save it later for future use:

In step eight, click “Classify”! In a few seconds, your model will be ready:

As a result, your model will be shown in a table. You can use this model until you decide to delete it or train it again with new data. In addition, you can also see how well this model recognizes your data by clicking on the “Show accuracy score” button:

In the next steps we will extract multiple categories from our text and merge them together into one output. In order to achieve this, we need to train our model without specifying the number of categories we want our model to extract from our text. For this reason, we will uncheck the box labeled “One class per row" and then we will select more than one category:

When we click on “Classify” in step nine, we will see more than one category in our table:

Now we will merge these different categories together into one. To do so, we will click on “Merge categories” and then we will select all categories except the last one:

Finally, we will add a new cpumn to our table and call it “Outcome”:

Now we will click on “Classify” again and we will get an output with only one category:

We did it! We extracted multiple categories from our text and merged them together into one category. Now it is time to post this classification on Instagram and get some likes! You can do this by clicking on “Get authorization token” and then by fplowing the instructions provided on the screen:
